Removed the post - but can't remove the account without admin, and Aymat seems to have vanished AGAIN. Something needs to be done about this.

Something CAN and has be done about this, I modded some code I found ages ago, when Aymat was around, but he didn't seem keen at the time, and since he became keen he's not been around. I can't add it in without Aymat.

It's easy enough, the bots join by passing the php code all the data without filling in the form (basically spoofing the form has been filled in). All my code does is remove the website field from the form (its still able to add in your website from the profile after registration, like normal).

Then, as soon as the server recieves an application that has the website variable filled in, you know it must be a bot, as a real person can't see the field in the first place, and reject the application. Dead simple, doesn't affect functionality, and takes 5 minutes to add.

The people that join must type it in order to join (randomly generated) so bots that are stupid cant copie it so they cant join problem solved

We already have that! Problem is thats a really common piece of code, therefore its worth while for the spammers to get round it. As the code I've bodged is fairly one off, no spammer can be bothered to tweak their bots to get round it just for one forum, so we are saved. Custom stuff like that is often a lot better against bots that are spamming (as spam is) everybody they can.
