AFAIK 300s only ever came with two speakers, but there are 6 locations. The wierd thing is that the 4x6" locations were supplied with 4" speakers from the factory...
The blueline also had the extra gauge kit.
The boot is pretty useless for a car of this size?! I can tell you for a fact that its better for bulky loads than a mondeo (a fair chunk bigger). It totally owns on boot space for its size. That's the main reason the rear legroom is so short - all the space is in the boot & bonnet!!
cheers

I'm glad I started this topic now, I honestly didnt realize there were that many special or limited editions .
By the way the dumped car dos not have the extra clocks in the centre console , The wierd thing is it has a front fog light switch but no front fogs. still I have put a note in it for the owner or recovery crew to contact me, lets wait and see

I think the bootspace isn't that great, my Dads 405 (roughly the same size car) has much more space for suitcases etc than my 360 for example, and thats a saloon.
The 360 boot is very shallow, but does go back a long way. For bulky loads however, the hatch is always going to win. My old Favorit estate had more bootspace, I could fit 5 wheels and tyres in the boot and I struggled to fit 4 in the 360 boot. The Favorit was a much smaller car, narrower and shorter. Although I must admit, I am being picky, and the boot isn't really a bad size.
Are 340 boots deeper because of the spare wheel being under the bonnet?

Hi 5lab, sorry to confuse! Facelift meaning between the early MK1 and laterr MK2 cars, eg bumper styling etc, alloys design, side wing indicator positioning! Pete

I genuinely don't see what's wrong with the size of the 300 series boot. I think 300 series saloon would give a 405 saloon a much closer run for its money. Having said that, its all about usability. You can actually put way more stuff in the 360 than you can in the 940, simply because you can fold the seats down and load vertically, etc.

I agree with james here, the storage space is amazing in my 340.
I've had a full pc with 19" monitor, about 5 crates of clothes/books/etc. many boxes/bags of cabling, a complete 4 part seperates stereo system with 10"x20"x10" speakers, 2 keyboards (a smallish 61 key Korg and a monster 88 key kurzweil in full flight case) and a flat packed computer desk. That would have taken 2 journeys in my mum's s40!

hmm that is a hell of a lot of stuff to get in! Maybe I don't think its too great cos of the 6x9s I have mounted in the parcel shelf that stick down about 8 inches! I remember when we had 340s before it always seemed huge, but it doesn't so much now - maybe I'll change my mind when I have to carry a load of stuff around!

The problem I have is when loading up my uni stuff, and folding the seats, I have to remove the shelf, and that takes up a huge part of the space created by dropping the seats (cos I have to take the shelf to uni too!!). Still managed to fit all my uni stuuf computer, and kitesurfing stuff in for one run though.

I seem to remember seeing a 340 Limited Edition, but I could never remember what year, or spec it was. Well, I passed one on the M25 yesterday, an F reg beige/gold 340 (no lettering such as GL!) Limited Edition. Oddly it didn't have a boot spoiler being a hatchback and a special edition. It did however have a redline along the side as the sticker just above the door handles, but I can't remember if it continued along the bumper strips or the door strips. It wasn't badged as a redline! I couldn't see what type of alloy's it had, as obviously they were rotating! Quite interesting though. Pete

There's a 300 round here in white (haven't paid enough attention to know if it's special) but it looks to be GL spec, from what I've seen, but no badges on the back except 'Volvo' in the normal position (no number of model ID) - unless somebody is really determined to properly de-badge a 340 (actually, it might be a 360 come to think of it... I'll see what colour the door pillars are) or Volvo offered it as an option... Also, surely somebody de-badging a car would most likely take the 'Volvo' off too?

Steve, the speakers that were behind the grilles were actually normal round ones. Like you, i was expecting oval ones becuase of the shape of the grille. Strange! I miss those 6x9s though, i loved them
Also the 360 Hatch a tad larger than a 309 (i know because both *just* fit into our garage. I'd reckon the boots are about the same size on both. As someone else said a 405 would probably be more comparable to a 360 Saloon.
Which reminds me, i keep meaning to look into those 309 calipers, to figure out if they'll fit a 300. Must do that soon!

Yeah I've since found they were just round speakers in the pillars.. strange really! But you're right them 6x9s are pretty special.
The 360 hatch is not far off the 405 saloon (about 7 inches shorter).. a 360 saloon would be pretty much an identical length, strangely they're about the same width two, but dont look it atall. I still reckon the space is better used in a 405 saloon, as the wheel is located under the car in a tray rather than in the boot.. which is better practically anyway. Someone needs to bring a saloon to the next meet!

I'm hoping to restore one of the saloons I have Steve, I think it is worth while, as I was sure there were more about, but not in the V3M community anyway! It's an F reg with the electric mirrors as well! Unfortunately when it was stood before I got it someone ran into the nearside wing, and also breaking the indicator located on the bumper. I've not seen a scrap car the smae colour to simply exchange the wing! It's the champagne gold/silver beige sort of colour! LOL. It wouldn't actually need too much doing, a little bit of tlc, it may be a good way for me to experiment with repariing doors etc and practice welding! Pete
