By having it on four stands, jacking the axle on one side, and the front lifts off the stand at the same time as the back.

cheers

Could you run that past me again, being a thick Northerner.

You jacked up a de dion axle on one side and it lifted the whole of that side of the car, whereabouts on the axle casing did you jack it?

Also have you considered a career in levitation I think you may have a natural talent

Yeah, on one side of the de dion beam. Once the spring had finished taking up the slack, both jacking points on that side of the car lifted off the stands at the same time.

cheers

Does that not just prove it actually had some cills??????

The jacking points aren't exactly a country mile apart are they?

Consider this young Fogmeister if you had to charge around in a vehicle knowing that it could all go Pete Tong at some point would you prefer to use a rusty bucket of crud or summit you knew had structually integrity?? sm38

Answers on a postcard please.........

Of course....if you're more likely to crash, you're more likely to need the structural integrity! All I mean is that I don't think the few extra low mileage minters left should be used for competition stuff. I'd not endorse seeing a rust bucket being used either.

Someone been peeing on your cornflakes?

That I do agree with buddy! Mine rally car (currently, after rally tonight, my heap of annoying t*ss that once again decided I was having too much fun) has a structually great shell, but the paint certainly isn't amazing. I do see what you're saying about it all, we've all seen mint cars in scrappy's as no ones taken them, and it's much better a car isn't scrapped even if it's going to get mucked up.

Thing is, I want all the nice cars for the 50p I can afford to put towards them, and secretly want everyone else to buy the rubbish :D

I secretly don't care what people do to their cars - it's just a car at the end of the day, and there's a lot more out there

I fully see other peoples view that if they're rallying, they want a good car, but with the number of mint cars always decreasing I really think the best examples should be well cared for. Heck, I feel guilty that our car is an everyday car and wish it didn't have to be used in the winter.

I keep getting thoughts of buying one of these nice 300's that keep turning up on e-bay, but don't think I should get such a nice one as I wouldn't be able to garage it, and I have to worry enough about the 340, it'd be nice to have a rougher example that could actually be driven without worry. Having said that , if I didn't buy a mint car, who would, and what would they do with it...

MJ , just think if all the other mint 300's get written off by being rallied or drifted then yours will go up in value even more

Martin, I've been meaning to say this to you for years - you're a young man, you have places to go, people to meet, fun to have - and if it means driving the crap out of that lovely old 340 then so be it. Cars are to be driven, especially at your age!

In my youth I wouldn't hesitate to drive 500 miles for a party, or a chance with some girl or to catch up with a mate. Let the good times, and the odometer, roll!!!

Is that why I still seem to be doing anything between 12-18k a year and I don't commute to work ;) Couldn't agree more tbh mate, a mint high miler is so much more cool than a mint low one, mine and Foggy's jaws dropped when we found out how many miles Richard Dodd did in his mint 300 at MK a few years ago!
