Exactly where I come from. Before doning anything to uprate/upgrade an engine the cars road holding/stopping ability need to addressed first. Why is it not many ppl do that first? Nice to know we are on the same side.

I'm all for you doing the T5 conversion as it will be a bit differnet and therfore interesting. My concern is are you going to strip the car get part way through the conversion then come against a problem and and up with a car in its that yu can't be bothered with beacsue its too complicated to do? The advantage with sticking to a red block is that it is mostly bolt together and other ppl have done it before and will be able to give advice. If I wanted to fit a T5 lump into a 3 i would be quite happy to do it as its the kind of thing I have done before and have the know how to do.
Have you planned out the project and what parts you need and how to go about it?
