That's pretty close Hugh, glad you're alright. Looks like the lorry driver was clearly at fault there. It's pretty incredible how the wing was completely ripped from the car, bolts and most of top lip still in place. Good set of pictures, always a good thing to have handy is a camera at any crash scene, the proof is there.

Didn't realise you had the early alloys fitted now. I take it the car is too badly damaged for repair, as you say bent frame, shame, more bits to keep I spose. Just hope your insurance pay out well and quickly.

my insurance isnt going to be touched. his can fookin pay the bills, seeing as its his fault. i like my ncb how it is, thankyouverymuch

the real tricky think is the frame around the lights (indicator particularly) is completely mashed. i bent me dads 440 back with a crowbar, and thought of the same but its not going to be possible.the door obviously took a hit too, so i suspect the hinges will have taken quite a bit of straign. i think the panel broke where the fold is at the top..

Oh man that sucks. That's a write-off. Repairable, but not economically - like Dougal.

If your story pans out with the cops (and it looks from the pics like it ought to - did the cops attend?), I hope they ban his ass, not to mention putting up his insurance suitably (only fair, right chaps?)! We don't need people that careless behind the wheels of artics! If they ban us kids...

Probably best to keep reasonably schtum on here, in case it gets all legal....

cheers

cops didnt want to know, as no-one was injured. i even muttered 'dangerous driving' down the phone (cos he was being an arse).

i'm not worried about saying what happened on here, imo theres no contest about blame, and that was backed up by my insurance co.

i know the company he worked for, and i'm going to instruct my lawyer to write a letter of complaint to them - they should know what their name is put through.

Sorry to see the pictures :( Definitely a good idea to take a load of snaps in this sort of case.

Cannot believe he would try to overtake a tractor uphill - thats just completely dangerous. Also a shame as you'd started doing work on Snowy and not had the car that long!

Hope insurance are co-operative, its certainly clear cut that the truck driver was totally to blame, so this should speed things up for a payout!

Good luck with it all,
Steve

If he reads this forum , I'm not surprised he bought you that kit , what with Hugh , Tom and myself plus all the near misses in the last few months , At least Hugh has a witness (tractor driver ).amazing how the front bumper appears to be totally untouched despite the wing being ripped off but I guess thars due to the height of the trucks rear bumper

actually the tractor driver refused to be my witness, but fortunatly i had 3 with me in the car.

Shame about the tractor driver coz an independant witness carries more weight than friends in the car, still the tractors number plate shows in one of the last pictures so if it go's to court your solicitor can trace him and call him as a witness whether he likes it or not (probably find he waved the lorry on in the first place ) best of luck with it all Hugh dont let it spoil your time in the States

Could be that tractor driver signaled to truck driver that it is clear to pass. That happened to my uncle and he survived, but 6 months in bed :(

I'm very happy that you got out with so little, without good thinking could be much worse.

I had terrible experience little similar years ago. Behind hill I found out that truck is passing another truck into uphill, 100 meters I think there was between us, luckily it was summer and I had turbo in that car, I made it trough grass, gravel and ditch, also engine had enough power to pull car straight, that was FWD SpaceWagon I drove, not very powerful, but I will thank that turbo kicking in right on time saved lives then.

Truckers did not stop, also suprice got me so well that can't remember anything else from trucks but those were white or other light colour and jeez those were big

I play nowdays lot of Live for speed, that helps to learn right reflexes in case of emergency I have found, amazing how same like it is to put car into correct angle and avoid hitting objects in that game and reallife. Of course reallife has biting grip when LFS grip is somewhat forgiving, waiting for S2 that should fix the problem :)

yeah we thought that too. to be honest, the tractor couldnt see anything cos the lorry was in the way.

sorry to hear about your uncle - glad he was ok in the end. it could have been a lot lot worse for me, and the police dont even care! how typical is that :(

Yhat was well close bud!! sm26 Glad you re ok, There is no way by those pics that the lorry should have even attempted that manouvre on that road! I drive a 7.5 ton for a living and there is no way Id do that an I got better acceleration and a shorter truck!!! Start having flashbacks and nightmares mate to see if you can squeeze a few more $$££ out of em. The police should have attended they d be there like a shot if you d rammed one of their GATSO cameras sm85
