Dear Father Christmas,

I have been a verry good boy this year and thought that as you were such a push-over for the kids, I would give writing to you a go in the hope that you would bring me either a 300 convertable or a nice example of a mk1 360glt.

I know that this may be a big ask, but if you can possibly mannage to grant my request, I prommice to stuff the usual mince pie and milk and leave you my Mrs (who is by the way a lovely looking blonde) tied to the bed naked and ready for you to empty your large sack at my house.

Please let me know if my offer satisfies your requirements.

An extremely hopefull little boy.

Has anyone got a picture of the white Mk2 saloon (I think) that was converted into a convertible? It was at some kinda Volvo show and was by far the most convincing one I've seen, actually looked pretty good!

that was at the Dutch Volvo Classic Car Fair a few years ago!

it was based on a regular 3dr model.

translated from the article above:

blabla...
340 convertible from 1984, one of the 2 fabricated protytypes!

we had the white with the dark red furry interior, too bad this car never made it past the prototype phase.
we thank Thijs Klaassen for his cooperation for this car to have on the V3C stand.

How did they fixed the trunk? It was hatchback before. Is it openable in this cabro version like in sedan?

That's what made me think it was a saloon cos I remember seeing the rear pic... looks pretty good for something that really shouldn't be a convertible  :D

similar like the saloon, so equipped with hinges.

i wonder how and where they modified the chassis to increase the rigigidy (or maybe they used thicker steel for the beams).

A great-looking car. Also shows how nice a 2dr saloon might have looked ...

Yeah but it's not the same car. :P That's built by someone in Sweden at the 80's.

Probably not much of that was necessary. The pillars behind the doors are still held together by a crossbeam, just large parts of the roof's sheetmetal (including tailgate) have been removed. Door frames and all are still there.

Fuse, that first page shows the fabled slipper pictures... I didn't think anyone actually ran on that, and that it was just offered up!? Does that car still run with it?
