if you want to get cheap audio stuff, have a look on clubpolo for sale section of ICE. i was surprised yesterday how cheap stuff was there. but get rid of the tape deck if i were you mate. get a decent sony unit from ebay with an ipod dock. mine was 55 quid brand new from the agos shop on there and works and looks a treat :D

Man. I used to well into my SQ. Focal Utopia's and Audison etc. Now all I have in this car is a pair of semi-decent Ground Zero co-ax's in the original Beltek boxes under the seats and a 4x60WRMS Alpine HU.

Weak it certainly is. It's safe to say that the frequency suffers a bit from being under a load of material! lol. Stealth FTW though. i'm thinking of going half MDF rear shelf with some decent components and a 10" sub of some description. I like to keep it hidden though. Which is why I won't fit speakers in the doors/kicks despite it being obviously superior to have comps up front and no rear fill. Hey-ho.

Have a pic of my 'setup'. lol

I'm on an old-school mission. Have to keep tapes.. they don't get scratched or jump and you can record over them again and again, they also go where you throw them unlike CD's so are useful ammunition if the need arises

I really do need more power though, Upgrading alternator to 200 amp, 14 volts... so 2800Watts... I will have combined 2750Watts of amplifier... leaving 50 watts to run the ignition :D

If I want headlights I'll need to turn it down.

What A/H battery should I pair with my new alternator?

Nope, you are right.

However, car audio manufacturers don't follow the same principle. The chances of your amp's you've bought drawing 200amps and converting it straight to heat, let alone making that amount of noise is just never going to happen. They just like to think of a number, then multiply it by the number of leaves on the nearest plant

I doubt you'll need the 200 amp alternator, it took a fair amount on my old one before I started having any noticeable effect on the headlamps but it's always nice to have reserve. Does it fit the stock mounting brackets? Don't forget too the 3kW (+losses) from the alternator comes off the engine, which from memory in yours is a B14?

I don't mean to come across like a c*ck, I look forward to seeing it done, there was a chap from eastern Europe on here a while back with an epic build, just remember that you don't ever get something for nothing.

I do heart PMPO power figures.

Good call on usin the car as a beach blaster. 8) My previous cars have been handy for that kind of thing, plus one of the basketball courts I used to use meant you could get the car right up beside the hoop and blast the Beastie Boys out all day/night.

As for tapes being durable and re-recordable, don't rock that analogue nonsense. Keep it real.

Perfect for the car. :D

I have so many of these still and have had 2 walkmans, numerous car HU's and still to this day use my MD deck on occasion.
They never had their day IMO!
