Cheers guys! Pretty much just the engines to be swapped over now, waiting on the bellhousing to turn up as we speak.

Bonnets off now. Fuel lines ready, just need to be fastened to the underside, pump, speed sensor etc also done.

I did find this however . . .

Ah. Not good, that'd be why the back end felt more floppy recently  Dont know how it happened, must have clouted a rock or something, I'd remember though. An excuse to upgrade them sooner mind!

More updates to come.

Ouch! If you're starved for pennies you can have one of my old rears as a temp replacement.

Speedy, that'd be wicked mate. Did the head unit work in the end btw?

Theo, VND's guess was right. Couldnt get it in the garage otherwise, and it helps me move round the car

And Sam, thats got to be quote of the day, I found found it pretty funny!

Erm, fuels lines fastened and sorted, second external filter plumbed in (nowt fancy) and front subframe and ARB now on. Buggered the poly ARB mounts though, I was getting frustrated  at least they aint too expensive! Had a load of good nick rubber spares though, so they'll do for now. Getting rid of rust and primering stuff too, since paint takes a while to dry, thought i'd kill 2 birds with one stone.

Last things to do is engine in (tomorrow), water hoses and wire it up.

Pics to follow!

Those would be fubard 26+ year old engine mounts then!

Image
Close up of the mounts (whats left of them). I jacked up the engine slightly to get the old subframe off, the mounts were completely un-bolted. They stuck to the subframe, not the engine. ha ha! Christ.

Difference between MK2 and 3 subframes (newer one MK3)

random fuel pump pic - Adam's work is awesome, no corners cut!
