Yup, I always look and see things I wish I'd done differently, thanks for the comments though guys!jtbo wrote:Very nice sharpness, light and composition in those shots, so they are every way perfect, even you probably don't think so if you have same issue when looking your own photos as I have when I look my own photos, always thinking how this and that could been done differently

Re: Photos
I took some pics earlier this week:
Pool (no water though)

I don't know what this is:

Previous thing closer, maybe place of worship?

Odd looking building, all buildings were made of red brick there,

Some statue:

It was funny place, every traffic sign did look like falling, also trees were not growing straight up, but more or less tipping over.
Home sweet home:

I haven't taken any new shots recently as the battery holder cover on my camera broke. Maybe it's now a good reason to buy a proper camera instead of these pocket cams?
I've posted some of these in some other topic before but I was browsing through my photo folders and thought to post these in this Photo-topic also. Nothing special in these pics but somehow I just like them.

A lake near the town of Mäntyharju. I stopped there to eat when I was driving to our summerhouse.

Another lake (we've got some of those in here
) with a fountain in the city of Varkaus.

A river at the village of Runni, (a village not very far away from our summerhouse) there's an old health spa there too and some magical pond of which water tastes like rust and by old tale it's water prolongs your life when you drink it.
(Rust taste is because of the natural high Fe-quantity in the ground water in that area the river is colored like that because of the same reason)

An older form of water massage.

A haunted house? Spotted this old barn and stopped to take a pic while driving back to our summerhouse from the village of Runni.

Marina area of the city of Iisalmi. (our summerhouse is located in Iisalmi)

An old beer delivery truck and some random people at the local beer festival in Iisalmi.

A pic from the same festival. I like the lightning though the pic itself is a bit grainy.

A pic taken at this hill next to our summerhouse.

Cool pics Fuse.
Love the last one.
Looks like the view from where a God probably sits.
The God of trees probably.

I have got to go on a driving holiday to Finland. Shame it's quite far, maybe a ferry to Norway and drive across?

My Finnish comrades will hate me for saying this... but if you're coming from the west, Sweden is rather similar and has better roads. Of course you could do both and drive up north in Sweden, cross the border at Haparanda / Tornio, and then south again in Finland. Then for an added challenge after that, do the Baltic countries and Poland as well. Full circle around the Baltic Sea.

I agree with Chris, I'd be scared of the damage you could do if you had a "proper" camera!Fuse wrote:![]()

Re: Photos
Not very far really, without using a ferry it is of course bit longer drive, just don't go to Norway first, after driving trough Norway landscape will flatten and there will be more trees, then you find out that you can't see very long distance because of trees except in few places.filthyjohn wrote:I have got to go on a driving holiday to Finland. I recommend that you start from Denmark, drive over sea by longest bridge in europe, at least I think it is longest bridge in Europe, get ferry at Stockholm and drive trough Finland and return via Norway. This way you can see these northern countries and ever increasing awesomeness of landscape keep you entertained whole trip.
When driving in Finland try alternate routes to use as much as possible, avoiding big roads will reveal some incredible landscapes.
Kainuu is one of nice areas (Fuse's summerhouse is in Kainuu area) when driving to lapland take east route, it is much better than west route, imo.
I would probably do Mikkeli-Savonlinna-Joensuu-Eno-Lieksa-Nurmes-Kajaani-Kuusamo-Sodankylä-Inari-Sevettijärvi-Norway, but going to Karingasniemi instead of Sevettijärvi is also a good option, landscape is bit different between those two places, but very nice in both, now is around best time to go, month more at max as there will be zillions of mosquitos closer to summer.
When at up north, shop at Ivalo before going up (last 'large' shop), also fill car with fuel, avoid Neste station, Shell and St1 are not so expensive in Ivalo but don't except to see low prices of fuel there. There is no shops in Sevettijärvi, but there is few in Karingasniemi, after 9pm there are almost none on roads there, so whatever happens you are on your own, especially if you did not get Elisa phone as there won't be reception with other operators, well it is usually under 100km to find help, 75km is often midpoint of many places there. It is bit of desert there (nothing like Norway, though), from Sevettijärvi there is 150km to doctor or police, also to fire department, that is something to keep in mind. Also reindeers can jump into your car, but at this time of year they are not so bad.
http://jtbo.pp.fi/images/album/road_pics/lappi_2008/
Not that I would know anything, driving around 70 000km each year everywhere in Finland (including all those roads I wrote earlier) just have let such impression into my mind
When driving in cities of Finland, make sure you look right a lot, some intersections are arranged so that people coming from right must go first, this is probably opposite to what you have used to, oh and remain right side of road, left side is for oncoming traffic

Thanks Jani, that's loads of info! I'm going to price up roughly how much such a holiday would cost, and if early in the year is best I'll consider it for next year. In the valvo.
