Wondered who got it, glad someone on here

I messaged the seller before the end of the auction to get the address with a view to seeing the car as I was tempted by the doors. But I couldn't face the prospect of having to hold on to the car till I got some more doors for it, putting them on, then having to sell it to get the money back! I've got too many cars on the go already! There's 5 in the drive/garage already (plus the 440), as I just picked up my dads vario for M.O.T failure work today. I can't move for gridlocked 300's already

I've decided to try to repair (if poss) the ones on the car unless some good ones turn up (off a car) in the meantime.
What were those like now you've got them and how's the door card etc attachment issue?

Yeah, I bagged it with 7 seconds to go for £285.

Ben is paying the lions share, as it's his car.
The doors are OK, gonna need some work on the bottoms though (the part that gets hammered when water is lying inside). Shouldn't be a massive hassle though, and the look of them far outweighs any restoration BS. The door cards are totally different, as are the door internals. Horrible cards IMO!
Sounds like you maybe done the right thing with this one then mate! I couldn't have that many cars lol.
I need to knock the bottom pins out of mine and all four from the 343 tomorrow hopefully and get the doors swapped over. The check strap difference may cause issue, but I reckon this can be sorted by changing over the bracket part too.

The interiors of these cars are certainly different, thats what makes them so desirable

Don't throw anything away you don't want, this stuff is rare! I'd be interested in it for spares. I assume you are going to convert to take the newer stuff? I've still got to compare old doors/cards window winders/trim etc with newer, I'm not really sure what I'm talking about when it comes to what fits what. I need to get my finger out and move some cars about to have a good look at the Mk1 vs Mk2 and 3. I'll be starting soon as its nearly summer here 22 C today!

Been that warm here too! Fantastic weather!
I don't plan to convert anything. My car will be stripped out eventually, so I will make some door cards that are more fitting. You can have these when I make the others if you like. Want the mirrors btw? Seem to be fine, will check when I'm next at the car.
Nothing else will be getting removed/binned as Ben is happy with it as is.
Great cigarette lighter in them though I must say!
Will get pics for door comparisons.

Thanks, mirrors would be good as spares too (my GLS has them). I intend to get some chrome early Mk 1 style ones for the project car. Glad Ben has got the car, time he had another!

Oh well.
That was short and sweet.
A quick 200miles to get it and run it home. And now Ive sold it to Filthyjohn for the time being as I cant really afford to insure it.
I fail at having 300s.
I think 2 days is a new record.

Hi Helldriver.
I am also planning on chrome mirrors. Any idea where to find them?
Cheers Mark.

Didn't you just get a 150 quid quote? Pull the insurance off the 205!

Pugs insurance is paid monthly. And need a months notice to cancel. FMJ want the 343 insurance money up front. Which is why I can't make it work without selling the pug. Which I don't want to do as it's reliable, has a new everything, and is very good on juice.

I'm everyday on the belgian motorways, I make a lot of kilometers and it was surely 1 year ago that I've seen the last one! (it was a red 340 saloon)
This morning I was sooo happy, a very nice '83 340 GL was on the motorway direction Brugge, near Antwerp. Very nice car in excellent condition, driven by an old lady!
This makes my day!

Quite funny it happens now, the day after my first visit to Jack VDB in the Netherlands, founder of V3C

Did notice you ?

The few times I see V300s on German streets, the (usually elderly) owners tend to take it the wrong way if I start gesticulating behind the wheel
The last time I heard about JvdB he was selling lots of his 300s ...
