Do i dare link the rear? It works nice now, apart from height and adjustability. Was thinking of running with leaf spring but if its recommended i will reinforce those towers

Was at the last "powerdrift" training this season yesterday. I got more committed and it was the first time i was feeling the car hold me a bit down.
So now i got the idea of what i need to sort out to next season.
First of all front suspension is useless in high speeds, and as I got the speed up yesterday I was hitting the limiter in third when i initiated drift. The new setup should sort that out.
I will take the full list of things who needs modifying one day. But I have decided to stick with the Volvo, I just loove it!

well, adam spoke to a friendly car body guy who told him that the towers were actually thick enough skinned to be used to take much greater forces without tearing. However I think I'd be tempted to reinforce the points if I was going to use the car solely for motorsport as it puts much greater stresses and strains on the car.

Yeah if you cant turret them, just put another thick skin on top to reinforce them. Keep your pics coming!

Ain't that the truth... even with the small amount I do in Fake a lot of it is showing wear in places you'd not normally expect.

If they're almost strong enough now, you could just weld a big brace across the two, and tie it in to the floor a bit too. The biggest problem is that the damper mounts are a common rot point.

yeah, as a minimum then I'd strengthen the current points but if I was spending real money on fancy coilovers then I would seriously consider turreting and using a properly linked dedion setup like some caterhams/overengineered alfas

Not finished yet, going to weld the case to the floor, make a metal strap that holds the lid of the box down and paint it

I'm not for sure, but the coilovers I have seen had original topmounts. So you could probably still use them.

Little update.. The car has gone indoors, And it is completely stripped out again, this time its getting a cage

The cage is from Pedersen Racing in Norway, its a self build cage. So all the bends are made, but you need to cut and build it yourself.
I had the options of weld or bolt it to the car, I went for the weld option because it will strengthen the car

Its not a dash dodging cage, so to get it right I had to get the dash out
Surprisingly simple job thanks to Haynes

Image

Left is a lot of wires i don't need, and some more kg`s of sound deadening
Image

You can see the front floor plates on the dash photos.
Here's a pic of one of the boxes we made for the center of the cage.

I will try to take photos as the construction goes on
