Max was chairman for a few years but doesn't do much apart from scrutineering these days with his new job.

Darkie's still around (and still hasn't grown up) but he's much more Wickham than Tynemouth. He does most of the local 12 cars still though, and is generally present at events. He seems to be coming to the end of a somewhat messy divorce (which is now much more public knowledge) and seems to have a new lease of life (yes it's possible apparently).

By George do you mean George Harrison? He's very much around and supervising autocross frequently these days since no one else can control them in his inimitable way. I don't think he does much competing these days though, I think he's done more or less everything he wants and can afford to.

I've driven occasionally on 12 cars when I've swapped seats with my usual driver but he suffers hugely from carsickness these days. Done a few autotests now though, and beat Paul Swift on my first event (in my bog standard everyday use road car). The Volvo comes from an idea that I don't want to be relying on one car when I need it to get to work and back, and I like to abuse it between bouts of attention, so I've been looking out for something cheap, fun and reasonably reliable.

How many cars have you still got? Haven't heard much of you for years unless I just haven't spotted you without a Volvo.

They are a sturdy bus without being worldbeaters.
Don't be expecting to find any money between the seats,he's a Yorkshireman.

I've still got a few but most stood up until better times come

Doesn't sound like much's changed then over the yrs.

Well done on beating Swifty.

is Ken Bills still drawing air????

Oh, buy the car and stick it up all the tuggers sm4

Thanks, I think he's forgiven me after I didn't mention it in front of people at Croft!

Ken Bills is on (another) retirement from motorsport now, but is more into mountain biking these days. What're the 2 litres like? Looking around I'm noticing more parts available for 1700s but people swapping to 2 litres :? Confusing!

The Volvo 2ltrs sure aren't no Xe but take abuse in thier stride and my B19 got a beating for 2 seasons and only needed a waterpump and an oil change.
Not that it matters for road rallying 'cos I spent a season tryimg to push Mac the train driver up the road

Think them there crazy fools will be swopping to Renault 2 ltr valvers. The 1.7 is a Renault motor.

Pushing Mr. Cliff up the road is better than pulling Mr. Lewis onto the road

This, the Volvo 2.0 is an old skool piece of engineering and lacks valves. The 2.0 from a clio or megane make them much more fun.

Reading between the lines I'd say you're no fan of American muscle.

Is your surname Clarkson by any chance?

Apparently voicing opinions ends you up being associated to cliche celebrities  Muscle cars do handle like a bag of spanners, but who can't love them? Noise and looks, what else do you need?

Sven you avoided the question, b19s are alright for what they are yep. But why knock something you haven't tried? Give in to the dark side
