Sorry to hear you're not coming RJ, but in a way I'm relieved because my red '79 decided to become poorly last night in the middle of Cambridge and had to be towed home by the AA

! The points are burnt out, so I will see if I can replace them today, but if not I'll have to bring a different car.

The points are burnt out,
There was a time when the AA were hell-bent on fixing things. Now I understand that he may not have had a contact set on him, but surely he could of cleaned 'em up? (On second thoughts maybe he'd never seen them before)
If you're going to stick with points Sion, you need to learn how to fix 'em!
(Or just carry a spare set to give to the AA man)

If it makes you feel any better, I'm not going to be in a 300. Mine failed its MOT today with a sticking caliper. Amusingly (read: in no way amusingly at all), said caliper was a fresh refurb, fitted earlier this morning...and yes, it definitely is sticking. Grrr!
cheers
James

The AA man did try to clean them up, but it didn't have much of an effect as they had gone too far. I didn't have any parts or tools with me at the time.
I had a spare set of contacts and condenser at home, so they have been replaced this morning and it now runs again. I will know now what to look for in wear of the points, as the set that was in the car was in pretty shabby condition.
I'm sorry to hear of your MOT woes James. I have a sticking brake caliper on my blue 1980 too, I haven't got round to fitting a replacement yet. Where did you get the failed replacement from (so I can get one elsewhere!)?
I think that I will still be bringing BHX, it's working fine now but I will give it a little more of a test later before committing to tomorrow's journey. Who else is bringing a 300?

Love the picture - they almost look like model cars! Glad to see Pete got his vario MOT'd and Andy's lovely GLS - wish I could've been there but if I'm honest I'd done enough driving this week

I used your favourite trick and polarised them so as to kill reflections which I think helps in making them look so. I tried a couple with and without and it really does help doesn't it.
