Oh! It could be dangerous for my engine? My B14 engine has more than 20 years and 240.000 km, I don't think it's sooo old...

shouldnt be too bad, mines got more mileage on and its fine, just take it as a warning if the carb is in bad shape

yes it probably can put i would not spray water anywhere its likly to get in the engine because water into combustion chambers is not a good idea if it was we would all be runing our cars on a water air fuel mixwater on a hot carb can clean it well..
i dont mean to cause an argument
dare to be different
wont to much harm, it'll just evaporate, and theres water vapour in the air anyways

Oh dear chaps...I've only been gone for a week, and already you've forgotten how to read!! I said you use WD40 for finding air leaks around the base of a 1.7s (most likely warped) carb/manifold interface. You obviously use carb cleaner for cleaning your carb...
You sometimes see EVOs with water sprayers onto the intercooler, and you can use water mist injection (into the inlet manifold) to cool the conbustion chamber - mostly to prevent detonation in turbo cars.
I'd go very easy with spraying into a carb....much safer to buy a can of the 'proper stuff'.
cheers
James

Terms and conditions apply. This post may go down as well as up. Regulated by the Financial Services Authority. Hard hats to be worn. No reversing without a banksman. No admittance to unauthorized persons. Stop that. Put that down. Leave that alone.

There is a certain irony in my statement, given that I usually can't type correctly at that time of night!! I also think I missed some smilies....damn tiredness!

I had understood that well, although my English is very bad...
Special spray into the carb and another product only for finding the air leaks (not sprayed into the carb of course)...

Check also that the inlet manifold hasn't warped where it joins the carb base. Ours was. It was also cured by judicious filing and checking carefully with a flat surface.
I should say that ours also had a warped carb base. Changing the carb made the car run. Filing the inlet manifold made the car run well.
