was that easy to put on without modifying a thing unlike what i have heard. does it drive well?

nothing modified.. Just get the right offset, and you're OK..

It can take the "wheeltracks" (oh my good, my english is seariously poor :P ) a bit, but not so much..
195-40-17 in front and rear will be perfect, and i don't think it will "oversteer" you..

I Actually tried some MiniLite-rims, 15 inch.. with the 185-65-15 it was too big.. The 17 inches fitted better.. :P

This is what's annoying me because of all the conflicting reports based on what rim size fits the car. 1st its 15 max or else you get problems now you have 17s no problems. oh well

have a look at this site you can go big as long as the speedo is right
http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
just type in what size are on it now and see how big you can go
It depends on the laws in victoria to tho

a lot depends on tyre profiles , the alloys I have just fitted to my calibra are 17's , the old ones were 15's but because of the lower profile tyres the actual diameter is slightly smaller with the 17's ,
best to listen to those who have actually tried bigger wheels like Gulbrandsen_Racing as there is nothing better than practical experience , obviously it also depends on other factors i.e. condition of the suspension, whether its been lowered or not

i agree with redline. And i know that you shouldn't believe in what people say, if they haven't tried it themselves..

But: the 17inches will go on a 360 with new, original gas shocks, and you can cut off 1 coil, MAYBE 1.5 coil of the spring..

1.5 coil and 17 inch are a nice hight, i've tried it but no pics.. unfortunately :(

And one factor that many people forget, is the OFFSET! 40mm offset works with 215 tire in front.. i've got it.. :)

What you need to realise is that rim diameter makes NO difference to fitment as long as you fit a lower profile tyre. The only side-effect of larger rims is that they tend to be wider, so you may need to play with the offset and rim width to make sure it fits.

Asking "can I fit 17 inch rims" is kinda missing the point, as it's not the 17" part which causes you the problem. I'd say you'd not go wrong with up to a 17x6.5 and stock offset and a 205 width tyre on stock suspension...assuming you don't drive like you stole it! With non-stock suspension all bets are off - all you can do it try it and see. Pick up some used tyres to experiment with!

Maybe G_Racing can let us know the width of his rims...and I'll look up the width of the rims Al had on his black 360.

cheers

I think 17's just look a bit too big... the 300 is a small 'looking' car for its size, so big wheels just look a tad ridiculous. I think 16" is about the right size if you like the big wheel look.

Definitely Offset, Rim width and Tyre profile are the determining factors of what will and wont fit. My 15x7" wheels with a 30 offset comes very close to the bodykit valance on certain turns of the lock, but otherwise - no rubbing problems etc

Also one thing you need to keep on mind is tyre load rating, if you lower profile you have to look wider tyre to get enough load rating.

It had something to do with volume of air in tyre and how tyre is constructed, but is too long when I read more about issue so can't remember all.

But for me sure 14, maybe 15, is perfectly enough, what ever is lighter is better :P

My current tires and rims weight bit less than 13" steel rims and tires, even these original volvo alloys look heavy they are actually quite ok in weight, considering being stock item and not performance oriented in any way.
