I've got a mig and an arc welder but i'm still pretty pants at welding so i'd rather get it done by someone else. Apparently its better to use arc or tig welding but plenty of people have used mig and theirs are still holding up.

Well I got it welded today, not the tidiest welding but should hold up alright! Just been out for a test drive in the soaking wet, actually a lot more grip than i expected! In some cases I actually found I had more grip when accelerating out of corners where usually the one wheel would spin up. Then put it sideways and it actually stays there and doesn't snap back in and catch you by surprise! Fairly noisey tyre skipping whilst manouvring and it felt a bit unbalanced taking a large roundabout at fair speed but other than that it felt totally normal big sm40
edit: just to add i'm on hol now till the 15th so i'll give it more of a test when i'm back

Just thought i'd update this now i've had chance to test it out a bit more today, first time in the dry with it.

Wouldn't really recommend it for a daily driver unless your super hardcore  (which i'm not, i'll get a new car when I go back to uni lol) there's a fair bit of noisey tyre skipping when manouvring and pulling out of junctions normally = fair bit of tyre sqeal.

When parking you never need the brakes as the rolling resistance is so high when you've got any steering lock on, takes a fair bit of getting used to, heavier steering and need to rev it more to move it.

Other than those points the car feels totally normal, the car still corners stupidly fast and i'm yet to get it sideways in the dry even overspeeding into a corner and clutch kicking (which was quite disappointing)! Hopefully it will drift in the dry now but its going to take 100% commitment and I haven't found a corner on the roads i'm prepared to try that on yet!

I'll update again when i've given it some wet weather testing but just thought i'd give a report for anyone contemplating doing it to their car :D

Needs more power :)

Will you sell the black car if you buy a new one? A black 3dr 360 is a tempting prospect for a T5 swap.

cheers

It definately does need more power! Won't be selling it, my parents aren't happy with me using it as a daily driver once I go back to uni as its 50 miles a day and really its a bit too unpractical for that now but I will be keeping it as a drift car to use on practise days. So then hopefully I can get a bit of practise in now till the end of September then take it off the road and not have to worry about what I do to it! T5 would be very nice indeed but when it becomes my 2nd car i'll probably just go for a turbo redblock if I find I need it

Update: It rained today.... all I can say is :D :D :D
Still enough grip unless your trying, then when you do try its bloody brilliant! Pulling out of junctions has never been so fun (cough*full opp lock*cough) its amazing how well the car can hold the slide in 2nd and feels really stable and predictable. Now need to find a local airfield who are prepared to let me onto their land!
