Ah, now I see-cheaper to come to UK and hire/buy car to do road rally-'tis the cheapest form of rally here( looked down on by many).

Approx £50-75 to enter incl event insurance-normally 90-140 miles.

Finland must be pure stage rallies-me and my bro did some-quality fun but not good for the wallet

Bit short clips and bad quality overall, but that is just normal roads and traffic , that Corolla had fuel tank cap open ;)

well you could be right about "brf "but we just ignore or take the p out of some people......

stage rallying is soooooo expensive its silly. basically the richest person wins which is sad and it sickens me when i see the prices people are paying for mk1 escorts. just the other day i said to my bro we have 4 360glt's between us which stand us about £2,600{3 standard and the rally car}. the average milage of all the cars is about 70,000 and we have enough spares to build a car .so to buy a rs2000 with 70,000 miles on with some spares would cost ?????
we went to a single venue event 2 wks ago and if hadnt been for 1 car driven by a friend we would have gone home......point and squirt with lots of money behind them=boring . this guy has had a mk1 for years and laughs at the idiots who pay £30-40,000 for a car and are then scared to drive it.
here he is,he had a smile from ear to ear :

its only a 1600cc x-flow

rant over

I think the word is spreading-like me mate said" set up like a mk2 RS but with 5 gears, injection and a few more toys" 8)

They'll never come near the kudos of MK2's but they are gettin' slightly less novel in competion use :D

Yeah, they're definately starting to get respect - as you say probably because people are looking for cheap RWD cars because mk1/2 Escort prices have shot through the roof.

Kinda wish I bought that red 3dr GLT that was on here a couple of months ago now. Probably would have been a bit of an investment!

You can get rally car for 3000-4000€ here, cheapest class is under 1400cc FWD, there is lot of Skodas...

But running one event is 700€ at min and still you need license, driving suit, shoes, gloves, helmet as stated by rules. Then checking car and little service after you bought it and other expences and we are looking big money.

Also in that class, winner car is something over 10 000€ it was some former factory team Skoda. New cars are not allowed, car have to be at least 7 years old.

So those who run to podium have fully adjustable suspension, engine produces 150-160hp (Yes, NA 1,4l) and I believe their budget is bit more than 700€ for race too.

So I think it is bit same, if you like to win.

But getting into is bigger step here, most of it is of course safety equipment, without roll cage you can't enter, also you need to have safety fuel tank, easily accessible main power switch that must be accessible from outside of car, seats and harness needed to be FIA approved as in fact everything in car. That makes it hard to get started, also if I would like to enter with Volvo (2ltr engine) that would mean most likely group-F, multiply prices by 3 or 4 in that case.
