You've gotta have thicker skin as a young performance-orientated bloke! Having said that, I can talk 'performance' better than most 'Max Power' heads, so that tends to shut them up! Plus the words '400 bhp from 2.3 litres' seem to hold more weight than 'K&N filter'.

Seriously though, in owning a pre-92 car you don't have to worry about expensive items which have a shelf life like airbags, catalyitic converters and general increasingly poor build quality. And there's the small matter of not having to pay for your car on finance, and not having to stomach HUGE depriciation in the first 3 years.

I find it fairly offensive when people see a 20 year old in a 16 year old car and assume I can't afford anything better...if I wanted a new car, I could buy it! I long for the day when the insurance comes down enough for me to make it supercar fast. Nothing better than an 'old banger' wiping the floor with a brand new 'sports' car.
