350 sounds like a sensible price. If you've seen this blokes work, then grab with 2 hands I'd say (well... one hand would obv be holding the wallet in sympathy... but ;))

Its not going to stop you using the car, which is a small mercy. and if hes renewing the whole panel, a bit more rust isnt the end of the world.
Get saving and replace it after xmas?
you have to live with the draft/run the demister till then?

Wouldn't worry too much about it as it's bad enough to need cutting out but a few months wont make too much difference in my opinion. Might be worth speaking to foggyjames about getting a section cut out of a car he's breaking?

Yes you are all correct...

It seems odd though in a way, the car is worth ... what.. 500 or 600 quid with a full mot and taxed and generally in good condition except for that rust...

AND YET I'm going to spend 250 quid ths weekend on a major full service and complete brake change...

Then 300 odd quid for the rust...

Weird eh? Maybe just let it fall apart and buy another one... bangernomics... but that is almost an unholy idea... I hate cars not being loved...

Which is again an odd thing!

Tell me about it.
Bought a GLT for 300 ish, spent a 700 is on it to bring it up to a great standard, and sold it for 400 ish.

You get what you put into a car, but at the end of the day, you can never get it back.

there's aprox 12000 euro's in my 340 turbo, including 650 euro's purchase price and it's not even done yet.

so what? i enjoy it every time i think of it, look at it or drift/drive it and i made up my mind; i'm never gonna sell it. money well spent if you ask me ;)

Bah wouldn't worry about it so long as you're having fun! If it's pissing you off then maybe it's not worth it...

However, I'm looking at a 340 for £100.. that doesn't run, and getting it back here will cost more than the car itself

In my opinion (for what its worth) I think as you bought the car off a dealer I'd be asking them to have it back and give you a full refund or else report them to Trading Standards. Irrespective of the age of the car it must be as described - if I remember correctly the advert was worded as "Very nice car" which it clearly isn't given the amount of rust present. I wouldn't mess about with them, insist on a full refund and look for another car. If they don't agree I'd go straight to Trading Standards, commision an independent report and pursue them through the County Court.

I did ask for a refund - which the dealer refused - and so went to Visa, as I'd paid through visa - but that is weeks of waiting PLUS the dealer did say he'd 'make it right'... but simply don't trust him now, I'd rather fork out the money myself than have to pay to have whatever mess he did put right... he even said to me he'd enjoy the challenge of welding as hadn't done it for years!!! BUT, because he offered to put it right, then that is his 'let out' clause really isn't it...

As for small claims court, it takes months and hassle...

I'm sure I'll find another way to take revenge - to begin with I'm simply going to advertise the fact that he ripps people off.
