What ignition system was that exactly, LE- or lambda-controlled LU Jet? Sticking with the stock ignition system does sound like saving a fair bit of effort ...
It's gotta be using something else for fuel, Tom, or it would barely run at all...I think he means it's running Renix ignition. Curious, as LH2.4 (fuel) and EZK (ignition) talk to each other...
The B23E was more powerful than the B230FB, but we're splitting hairs The B230FB is impressive because it's nearly as powerful, and it'll pass the modern emissions tests.
The whole air and fuel system is B200, exept the injectors and even then it is pretty fast. So this is an engine swap in its purest form, just the engineblock has been swapped... Not the way I would do it, but it works.

To me, that sounds ideal An engine swap with no further changes? It even looks the same as a B200E/EA/F - just the ticket.
Sorry if these are daft newbie questions (I've never considered an engine swap before) but is that the stock manifold as well? Does the car have a catalytic converter? Euro 1 emissions compliance is a must for me ...
I think I need to have a chat with Mr. TÜV and see what he will accept A turbo would be difficult, but this looks great
I do love seeing that car, didn't realise it was block swapped. Thing is, LE can' t handle the stock engine without constant work to keep everything factor spec and the renix can't deal with a cam swap, so what power is it actually making? *if* there was an ecu and renix unit that plugged into stock loom (i.e. LE and renix for us, whatever the B200F's ran for the euro's) it'd be a solution but on stock ecus?
Post '87 B200E/Fs have the same Renix, but AFAIK B200Fs had a different ECU to B200Es. Since the B200F was fitted to 7/900s as well, maybe they took the B230s into account as well when they progammed it? That's why I'm so keen to know exactly what engine was fitted to that car in the first place ... The idea of an easy-to-do 2.3 conversion is really whetting my appetite.
Please note: I've got no idea really what I'm going on about here, so slap my wrists if I'm talking rubbish
Excellent thread there, very nicely summarised! Plug and play is what I'm interested in too .. But it does look as if there is a lot of conflicting information regarding that.

There is so much to be said for the 100% original rust-free car. Standing in front of a car which looks like it's come straight from the showroom, untouched by human hands has a certain magic to it. I get a lot more excited about these cars, than other people's projects, probably just like Ian.
But still, if I ever OWNED a "time warp" car, I'd probably feel the need to change something to it sooner or later. Some Volvo alloys here, a 5spd box there, some extra gauges, and hey presto, the original magic is gone.
My 360 is a daily, and I can't say no to more useable performance, if it's easy to do and reliable ...
I think your car would look best with repainted steelies, posh trim rings (quoting macplaxton) and no spoilers To me, a GLS has a totally different character to a GLT, the plush limousine vs the boy racer, the gentleman cruiser vs. the performance man, the ...
