the car does need work, but its actually in very good condition. the colour is not that blue, its darker - more a navy blue i think. will check the colour code tomorrow morning.

the colour does it no favours, a tcut will do it wonders i think, and some rust-free wheels...

Nice looking car there Hugh..for the bonnet, boot and doors I suggest a product called AutoGlym (I forget who manufactures it). In my opinion it does a way better job than T-cut.

What's she like mechanically (apart, of course, from that damaged headlight and the random noise)?

Tom, too right about the T cut, it's poor at best! AutoGlym are the manufacturers, you were right, I think the product you're thinking of is their colour restorer, works very well indeed, and their polish is by far the best I've used. T cut has never seemed very good to me, and we use something that's probably been banned it's so old! My Dad has a 5 litre can of the stuff that he's had for years, quite potent, and very effective.

I think the stuff I've got is just 'super resin' polish, whatever that is! I too have had it for years. My Grandad used it when he still drove it, and that was around 6 years ago. It's therefore lost it's cream property and is now a watery mess. It still shines up beautifully though.

t-cut or similar and the best kept secret, furniture wood wax! Works better than 'light' car 'wax'. Takes longer to buff but lasts longer and looks great.

LOL, coming from the guy who I'm sure once said he hadn't cleaned his car in 2 years... :p

My car's paint was not so much faded, I did use paint renovator called Korrek Cleaner wax and after that I put some Turtle wax Original and car looks very different, color is deeper blue.

You seem to miss one headlight glass too, but not too hard job to make it shine again

My car has some deep scratches and also several dents from previous owners. I'm planning to learn some fixing with it next summer, perhaps few dents and scratchs less or more after summer

Crikey Hugh - you've got some serious sticker removal to do! That's a pretty tight car for free...I'd drive it

A day spent washing and polishing, sticker removal etc and your set of mk2 alloys will do that car wonders. I also think that colour will shine up nicely with some elbow grease. We still have a damn set of them steels in the shed from one of our mk2s! Also.. I rather like the look of mk3 rear clusters on a mk2 rear end.



Bit of a poor example of what im talking about though.. Janitors car has late clusters on a mk2 shell too.

Just noticed that in some pictures it looks bit green, I blame my camera for that. Dark Blue is real color.

Perhaps 232-0 is my colour code? or then 6923, those are numbers from sign that is under hood.
