aye, MIG is definatly the technique to start with. i've done some MIG in the past and at work and at home we don't have a MIG machine. my dad calls it "schijt-lassen", best english description besides "shit-welding" is that he means that you purely weld on top of the material, whereas with TIG you initially get the chance to melt 2 surfaces of the weld together.
it's definatly a difficult welding technique and since i've only been randomly busy with the TIG machine (mainly for this car) and see what i can do with quite limited amount of experience; i think i'm quite quick learning

i've set my mind into aluminium-welding with TIG (wich is again a different technique) after this summer, for multipoint-injection manifolds and stuff like that

hahahaha wtf, how the hell did you find that so quickly

I'm not stalking you. Honest.
I just found all the youtube channels for V3Mers (and a few 300 power ones I think) and subscribed. I figured anything 300 related would be interesting in my sub box.

Toms daily wins at staring.
Itknows if it flinches or tries to run, your car will catch it, f@ck it and eat it.
Good news on the pass dude. Always good to hear a No Advisorries.

Anjo's phone-foto flattery fades out the rusty bits on my car quite well

Well done on the MOT!
Cheers
Tom

CNC-milled the flange today after work, even got time to get M8 thread in it
i WAS planning to build, fabricate and weld the rest of the manifold this weekend; not so sure about that atm because it's going to freeze and i've got to stand outside

i'm not a pussy but frozen hands make accurate measurements etc impossible, i'm more worried about the quality of the work than me freezing my ass off

mobile-outdoor-workspace:
with the turbo engine dropped in..
new studs
and here comes the manifold work..
and afer 2sec i hit the first snag
the middle 2 pipes didn't fit and got stuck into the intake manifold...
so out comes the grinder, and there you go:
hope the rest goes a little smoother
picking up a load of special items tomorrow morning, back to this in the afternoon.

bolted the manifold to a 15mm thick steel plate, then drilled holes to fit a backing-gas system
after that i started on some of the final welds this evening, there's even a slight chance i get the whole thing welded tomorrow evening

Keep the photos and updates coming... If I could work at even a 1/10th of your rate, I'd get a door mirror done in about 6 weeks.
