A thousand thanks to Mark popping down to help us out and save a bit of time. Sorry Mac, but dunderheid here got 10 miles from the house before forgetting the boot bling strip and all the way to Newry before realising I'd forgot the transmission mounts.

Shut up man. It's even a feckin' bargain at twice the price.
Same car, in the South: 710 EUR full year, 394 EUR half year, 200 EUR for a quarter. That's £607.91 / £337.31 / £171.22 as of today. It's not far off 3 times the price here!

Tax is crap at the moment, even more infuriating when the roads are still appalling. Captive market, bastards.

Tax always has been and always will be crap. It's a flawed system no matter how high/low the taxes are. Also as a side note, tax from car tax does not go on the roads, despite what you might think
Remove the power, remove the tax

Viva la car tax revolution!

Yeah, blame the one-eyed Jock (Brown was CoE at the time the rolling
25-year was stopped. So how can they bring back a rolling
30 that never existed?)
If you want a rolling 30, then move South, (not free, but reduced rate of €56 per year) but then get humped for every other tax under the sun instead. Swings and roundabouts.
It really doesn't matter who was in charge, when Ken Clarke introduced the concession in 1993(?), there were only c. 60,000 vehicles that qualified. Roll forward to when it was frozen and it was c. 320,000 cars. It was becoming a bit more than a loose-change give-away.
ETA:
It's still cheaper Mark, before Brown introduced the lower rate for cars under 1550cc, it used to cost £150 a year to tax the Banana. Now it only costs £130, and in real terms much less.

Agh fucknuggets

That really sucks. It shouldn't be too hard to get hold of one though.
When I took mine out, I found the best technique was to drill out the rivet at the top of the door that holds in the pillar. Then I think there's a bolt at the bottom (or maybe not... it was a while ago). But basically after that you can pull the pillar down and out.
To put back in is much more fiddly, I found undoing the mechanism for the rear window so I could tuck it out the way helped. After this, do some huffing, puffing and a bit of magic and it *should* slide in. It's one of those jobs that was a real fiddly pain so I can't remember exactly how I did it. All I remember is that it took about 3 hours total. The hardest part will be getting all the rubber seals to sit right.
Oh and you'll have to replace the rivet at the top of the door! Or if you can find something else to attach it like a self tapping screw, that might work. Personally... I didn't bother with that bit but Chris scolded me for risking glass-highspeed-explodey.

Big window out, drill out rivet, undo bolt (it's a philips head machine screw), remove quarterlight and rubber as one.
Replace new quarterlight and rubber, machine screw and rivet back in, big glass back in.
I havn't got any at the moment mate, but will keep an eye out.

Hi Lads.
I am sending some pictures of the damage to Ben.
Once i cleared the snow from the car, i found that
they had tried to get in useing screwdrivers

.
The Bastards have also destroyed both front door locks
The police are now calling it Atempted vehicle theft.
If i had have been in work i would have shot the F*****s
Cheers Mark.
