Get some spax adjustables if they're too soft, landy shocks sound like a compromise to me :?

To be honest, if I knew I could sell the shocks that are on mine now then i'd contemplate getting ajustables, my compromise is that I dont have alot of money lol! As I say i've seen people with the landrover shocks fitted and they seem to work very well.

At least if I do get them and find out there absolutely t*ss at least I can say you guys didn't tell me so ay? :)

Have you got standard dampers on the back at the mo then? My KYB Gas-A-Justs (non adjustable Gas monotubes) are noticeably stiffer than the standard Boge jobbies I also bought, but are not much more expensive.

Funny you should mention the KYB shocks because it was only last night I had a look on their online PDF catalogue and they didn't have ANYTHING specified for the 300 at all?

You got a part number or anything?

If I put my koni's on the hardest setting, it's a real challenge to pull it back out. Don't think LaRo shocks can make that big of a difference.

Just looked out the invoice and the part number on there is 553157. Cost me £59.95 from Buy Parts By a couple of years ago.

Just a point about dampers, it is best to be clear about what damping force is proportional to, as "soft" is a pretty meaningless word. Damping force in a viscous unit like car suspension is proportional to the velocity at which it moves in and out. There are also several other characteristics of dashpots that ought to be considered especially when matching them to a particular spring rate. However there is no harm in just bunging on some landy ones and discovering whether they are rubbish or not.

Yer, you can't kill a man for trying lol!

Just called Buypartsby and quoted that part number to them. Even though it's not on their site (I don't think) it's still a good number on their system. Works out just over £30 each inc. VAT plus £7.50 postage with a 2-3 day lead time.

Bit of reference in case anybody is after some?

Damping force proportional to velocity can be clearly illustrated if you get a damper and compress it with your hands. Even on the stiffest setting the spax move just fine, yet they produce a lovely rock hard ride once they're on the car.

They did as I bought some (not gas-a-justs though, the next one down). And didn't fit them. Then sold them to someone else on here :)

In fact, front ones:
https://sslrelay.com/buypartsby.co.uk/k ... ordID=2923
Rear ones:
https://sslrelay.com/buypartsby.co.uk/k ... ordID=2922
(listed as 340/343, 1976 - 8/82)

They not going to be as good as some proper adjustable ones, but I think they're a good upgrade for those on a budget (like I was). Although obviously i cant comment on the front ones.
