Meh, I'll weld around gas tanks. No bother for someone as invincible as me
That's interesting that it really is that easy to make it lock at higher speeds. I'm confused though, surely a permanently engaged locker will be just as difficult to park as a welder? I'm confused as to how that works. Research time!

It wont be permanently engaged as such, it will just engage at all speeds when needed (usually under a hard launch or tight corner)

A locker only locks up when one wheel spins. It's like an LSD, but locks solid. Better for teh doriftoooooo.
The mod is a piece of piss, especially if it's off the car...

Interesting on your opinions on LPG, I've found those opinions across the board. However speaking to specialists, friends and Steve off VOC, I've also found those opinions tend to follow DIY jobs and the such. Steve's car was done by Dai's lot, he told them he wanted to do some turbo modifications and they fit a larger bias valve? I think it was? Basically it was already set up to allow tuning. The thing works flawlessly and as it was a sport he was already at 190hp.
If I get it done through a company, there's always men I can go back and shout at until it works properly.
So far the highest power 4 cylinder LPG conversion I have done was dyno'd 380BHP (flywheel). There are very few installers that know what they are doing with high power engines especialy the Volvo's. The problem with them is they run full group injection and that causes issues that need to be overcome to get full top end power and good fuel control at idle. The system we use like on Steve's car filters out the second pulse of teh fuel group injection so the LPG injector fires only once per engine cycle like is would on a sequtialy fired engine. Depending how much power you are looking for you might need to fit a bigger fuel line, correctly selected reducer with suitable fuel pressure and high flowing injectors.
The LPG system has a lot of fail safe features built in. If the fuel pressure drops it will automaticaly switch back to petrol, if the injectors max out (petrol or gas) it will revert back to petrol and if it detects an electrical failure it will switch back to petrol and alert you.
Sadly the majority of installers just want to throw on a standard cheap kit take your money and say good bye. The Ploish lot that have setup a couple of places in south wales are some of the worst from what I have seen. Have a look through the LPG section on the VOC site
Oh and did I mention that LPG is better at handling high boost due to its octane rating aroun 115ron !!

Brilliant info, thanks Dai. Although I don't have the 740 any more there's a good chance I'll be wanting to do the 2.3 turbo conversion in a few years. Plus fuel will be more expensive by then...
