The decat has got to be worth at least 10 BHP on its own

The engien mounts used are teh stock 1.7 ones. The sump again bolts on off the 1.7 - clutch is kept the same.

The ignition system again is simple renix set up.

The exhaust needs to be changed to fit.

The inlet manifold is the big problem as throttle body fits where the heater box is.

Jup, its a reasonable easy fit(easiest one for a 340 anyway.) The inlet manifold doesn't fit that well indeed, Heaterbox is a problem(Im chopping up my heaterbox for that, I think its possible with my MK1 box). Brakecylinder could be a prob if you got LHD. Im not sure yet.

Wireloom isn't that easy either. But that won't be such a big problem if you take the time.

Exhaust depends on what you want. It's reasonably easy to link the std. exhaust. Im going for a complete new one I think. My 1.4 exhaust isn't that big.

My old Clio with the 1.8 made ~155bhp with a de-catted magnex exhaust, ITG filter and chip. Made about 165bhp with the 2 litre but loads more torque.

My modified intake manifold clears the heater box by miles and creates a forced 'ish' induction as the throttle body is now behind the rad, sounds absolutely mint!!!!

Exhaust manifold looks like a piece of art - is that custom too?

Believe it or not no, its a cast tubular manifold standard on the clio!!
Bennets one is a tubular one from a williams.

Yes and no, you can pick up an engine for around £100 i rebuilt the complete top end on mine so spent a bit more money.
Manifold is a cut and shut item to relocate throttlwe body, will try and find a pic!!

Teething probs, had to have a second manifold made up as the first one broke all lower flanges!!!!

You can make out ends have been modified, see the tig welds.

Had a small problem on mine yesterday although sorted now with the aid of a bike brake cable!! I had used a cheap DIY throttle cable kit from a renault 19 and used bits from the volvo to make a cable up.
Anyway the outer for the cable was plastic and sat in nice sunny weather down here i went to pull away only for the accelerator peddle to be stuck to the floor, the heat from the exhaust manifold had melted the outer cable. Soon sorted by a trip to halfords for a cable.
On the plus point the bettre quality cable has increased the throttle response!!! lol
