the 406oc board (phpBB too) employ a system whereby the first 5 posts of a new user need to be checked my a mod before posting.
if its spam, the user is banned.
if 5 good posts come out, then youre in. Free reign.
Not sure how thats achieved, technology wise, but it seems to work well.
Our membership doesnt rise THAT fast, so I think a similar system would be achievable in that respect (ie not a full time job for the mods) but like i said, i have no idea how its done.

I like from that system too, here we could even reduce number of needed posts.

I hear a rumour I'll have member banning powers soon

who's first
(I have a feeling the mods will become ban happy for the first week... all bribes to not be banned can be sent to:-
:p )

You can try me, but beware, I have something right here:

Maybe reason why ip bans are not working anymore?

Let's try it again! Or is it being elitist, not allowing people to register if they can't write Volvo in reverse?

This new one has nice legs and all, but it still is quite monotonous, I mean, change posture at times, maybe take bit clothes off...

I think your question is too hard for humans and too easy for spambots. You want something people are very good at and computers very bad at.
A picture with a few volvos in it and the question "how many volvo 340s are in the picture" will be 100% botproof and far far easier for a human than the horrible mess of unreadable characters they have to interpret now

a few weeks ago i registered to a forum where i had to type the brands name backwards, that seems to work well too!
and offcourse answer the "are you a spambot?" yes or no question

Yep, we definitely need a solution like this... deleting these spam posts and banning users is getting silly!

There should be way to spam them with senseless jargon as this:
Probably funny only for finns that are about to loose the light, Lusko = lust Peradupu = Perapupu = Rear bunny, whatever that is

hmm i don't know if the mods on here feel the same way but i'd be going crazy over removing all that spam every day, it's now getting kinda very annoying
still no progress on security upgrades / member (or bot in thes cases) blocking etc?
