Cheers mark, I love the dash too :)

Chris, That's pretty cool like, It is EXACTLY what I'm after, have run into problems trying to get the current screen to run quick enough. Will be something to get when i can afford it to get the telemetry thing sorted. After a breif look on their website, they do a 2.4" and a 3.6" which may be slightly better sizes as i'm wanting to use the air vent at the driver's side to hold the screen. Cheaper too :)

I'll get another video of how far the telemetry has come along so far.

here's the best pic i could get of the spring
Image

also rounded some driveshaft bolts trying to do the wheel bearing. Tried braying a 3/8's" socket on but the rubber gaitor was in the way. I'm doing the O/S one so the radius rod bracket doesn't help matters. I'd cut the heads off but not entirely sure that's the best approach yet.

Working all day tomorrow so won't have time to do anything, then college on thursday. Finger's crossed I'll have the bearing off the car wednesday so i can enjoy the easter holidays a bit.

I'll let the photo's do the talking

Thought I deserved to treat myself even though I couldn't afford to haha

So what i need now is:
Springs
Topmount bearings
Brackets for the brakes
few inches of welding.

And to get the wheel bearing fixed, will be going to a garage if it's not done by next tuesday. Made some gearlinkage brackets and will order a downpipe tomorrow

Thanks for looking,
Matt

Ive got some standard top mount bearings if they are of any use to you dude. Those breaks will sure stop you with ease when they're fitted!

Aye mate, how much would we be looking at for em?

Need to do some measuring for the coilies, see if they'll fit behind the wheel and also see if the calipers clear the wheels or if i need to run spacers. Have 7 extended wheel studs :/ Hoping it will all be done soon, deffo before summer so I can have some fun and a holiday :D

Had a little test fit of the brakes today, here's how it went...

Makes the old ones look small
Image

Looks full
Image

ooft
Image

Looking very nice indeed
Image

They look a little tight hmm...
Image

...a bit too tight...
Image

Yup, too tight.
Image

So I have 2 options I can see
1 - Run huge spacers so that the middle of the calipers is past the step
2 - Get 16's

Now at the moment I can't afford either. Huge spacers will make wheel bearings suffer but would allow the wheel to sit further away from the strut meaning the coilovers would fit down the back, although not entirely sure where I'll be welding them on yet. 16" 4x100 wheels sound expensive - especially to get something that suits the car. And i like the cups too much. Don't think grinding the dampers down or getting the wheels machined would be all that great of an Idea - but then again I'm no expert.

Could look into 15" steelies, they might be thin enough? My dad has some chrome 740 wheel trims that could look decent lol

Any input appreciated although it's not urgent at the mo.

It really depends on the wheel type, if you use a motorsport type wheel you will get away with a smaller size, like compomotive speedline etc. Dont forget the bracket will space the caliper outwards slightly too.
With coilover rings & big tyres it will be fine providing you dont weld the adapter lower than the standard spring seat. They will clear most wheels & tyres fine then.

Yeah, I tried it in a 15" steel wheel and found it had loads of room, so that's a possibility

I had the disk bolted to a hub and brand new pads in the caliper so the disk would have been sitting pretty central. maybe if 2/3mm could be took off the caliper and a 10mm spacer as it was just catching the front, then it might just work.

I'm still not sure where to weld it on, or what length springs to get - need to factor in how much it will compress just with the weight of the car. I'm hoping to run 250 lb springs. So weld it on so the lowest setting is where the standard spring cup sits then just measure from that up to the top spring cup and get it just a tiny bit longer? car's roughly 2500 lbs, each corner is then 625 lbs, so it would drop 2.5" just under the weight of the car. I also take it the average springs you buy aren't progressive and that they don't get stiffer the more you compress them.

If you get a shorter spring you can then run a helper spring to stop the spring being too short when you jack teh car up. I will look back through my photos and show you.

aye mate, seen them on your thread, my mate also has em on his corsa.

Made a good downpipe out of a pas one with a knackered outlet and a non-pas one that was fine but didn't clear the steering.

Stuck my old splitter back on

Then drove somewhere further than 3 miles from my house for the first time in a while lol

Image

Wheel bearing's getting done tuesday, then its gear linkages very shortly after and the cars 'mainly' sorted - enough to be a reliable daily anyway

I am chuffed to bits, Maiden voyage being to a classic car show :D

wheel bearing was bouncing happily along and i only had 4 gears and that was with a lot of effort and many starts in 3rd but yeah, tis nice :)

jon, what length springs are yours? and you wouldn't have a photo handy of what they're wound down to would you?

Cheers mate, would be great!

Clutch adjusted and seems fine, small amount of gearbox (i think) oil in the bellhousing, I suspect it's come down the torque tube from when the old gearbox leaked. Have left the cover slightly open to let it run out into some paper towel that also stops shite getting in. Clutch isn't slipping as far as i can tell.

Todays plans are to tidy up some wiring and give the car a bit of a clean out

I'm getting a garage to do the wheel bearing tomorrow :/
