cheers all! I want a 300 pickup now
Tyres on leos are 185/60 14s, cheapest available size from my local tyre place.
Aye the knocking on the spring was what made me swap mine, mine actually seemed to knock less with the central hangar off.
Is not too loud, loudest between 1-2k rpm on flat, and loud all the time up hills, if i can get a decent video i'll post it up.
Here's a couple of photos of the welding
Also I'm getting a gassless MIG welder this week
thanks for looking

i think you should it looks good! I've done a arc, (our school dt techincian said i was better than him at it haha!) tryed some mig the other day, but we didnt have a very good connection. Still, I reckon I did i better job than my mate was doing, and it was his welder

aye arc welding is a lot harder than mig, someting nice about it though, reminds me of fireworks night lol. i have an arc welder, not used it yet but have used one at college. I've never used gassless so will be a learning curve. Can't wait. Got a couple of backboxes to practice on, and am getting a corsa B bonnet to play with. Will find an old cooker for some donor steel

my mate has some paid work for me too, de-locking boots etc. so should be fun. Fancy doing strut braces

Got my Gassless MIG welder today, been playing about... But i'll come to that in a bit
First off i've been doing a bit of engine bay tidying and cleaning. Started today with removing the Air box, washer fluid and coolant expansion tanks and also the removal of the 'Foxguard alarm'. This was rather badly installed so its coming out, being rewired and then reinstalled in a much neater fashion. So i pulled it all out, water tanks being the hardest due to a bit of rust beneath...
The rust:
Cleaned it up a bit, sanded it down to metal then gave it a paint with the touch up brush
Not neat but it will do, no one can see under the tanks anyway. While they were out i gave everything a clean, don't suppose anyone knows a method of cleaning the inside of the washer fluid tank?
Upon refitting the tanks i made a new 'bolt' as the old one was pretty bad, threaded bar and some nuts
May get welded to make more of a bolt in the future , unless the bolts are readily available, couldn't find any long and thin enough
And can anyone help with what these wires are for? taped into orig.volvo lights and washer pump loom, but with newer spade connectors on.
Anyhow the welder.. I like it, never going to get perfect results with gassless but i'll get better. Made a new exhaust bracket, to hang the exhaust onto the central hangar for the backbox nearest the front of the car.
Thanks for looking,
Matt

The wires are for the ambient temperature sensor that links with the additional external temp gauge in the dash that was optional

cheers mate, i'll let you know. I'll make enquireies about a guage first
Bourght a set of wheels today...
15" x 7J

ET 39 :/ ... spacers it is as the front tyre rubs on the strut, wheel clears...just
Need smaller tyres these have 195/55 15. What size should i be looking at getting? 195/45 or 195/50 ? or could i get away with stretching some 185s so i don't need spacers?
Also want to know what they are / off. Came with mazda centrecaps but i'm not sure they are off a mazda, hours of looking on google hasn't shown any. 1997 made in italy if it helps. Look a tad like borbet cup rh's
Oh and in true nimminz-style they are getting repainted ... white

They rub on the strut?
Mine are 15x7 on 205 55's and don't rub, but I'm getting 195 50's now I got some money

aye think its with them being et39 rather than et36 which is volvo standard iirc.
are 195/50s the correct size? i'm usless at tyre sizes lol.
I've sent a PM to you too Theo

At ET39 195/50s shouldn't rub. 195/45s would be better but are a canny bit more expensive.
