Nice work Ride on. Loving the welding, next thing I have to learn, have the welder but never tried it yet.
I am trying out the deox gel just now, have a thread in this section. Pop in for a look, it is €17.50 a kilo from a company here in Ireland. Expensive if it doesn't work but cheap if it does, will know more in the next few hours/days.
Will PM you a link.
Got the bonnet and various flatting done. Doing the engine bay and fitting the wings back on after repairing them.
Unfortunately the wings don't fit too well at the front. Its possible I havn't fitted the valence back on well, too tight perhaps. The valence panels came from different cars so I didn't have the original spot weld holes to line up on. Suggestions, modify wing or reweld valence top bit? It may have to come off all the way along, next step is to try the other wing.
I've been up to the same stage in the past couple of weeks.I think its coz when we remove the front panel we take the time to remove the 4mm of stone chipping that is also between the spot welds.I've gone with good door and bonnet gaps and will worry about the valence gaps later.
As for the airbox foam I used a length of thick draft excluder (about 20mmx10mm) and looped it round.Same with the square bit for the recirc.
I don't think it was missing stone chip, just bad assembly in my case. Sorted now.
Also after much head scratching, cutting, grinding, hammering, welding, more grinding, welding, grind, weld grind etc etc I fixed what I thought might be impossible. Still need to see what it looks like primered and flattened.
Well I've been working hard to get the the spraying point. All doors and wings on now, boot ready and majority of cleaning and flatting done. Just about do the the stone chip and have sprayer coming for a quote this week. Some further photo's;
