i'm happy with the boot badges, those are allready chromed  i don't like the older ones with the black background, looks a bit cheap imo

couldn't resist, started with the engine tonight
Image

fitted the PAS pump and found a few hurdles so glad i tryed it on before getting everything powdercoated..

after that i stripped the engine, i took of the valvecover and took this pic without any cleaning or whatsoever!

shiny eh :D, that's what 10k service and a happy revving engine (at least 5000rpm every time it ran) does.

loosened the rocker shaft so all valves are shut and bolted the valvecover back on, ready for a pressure wash.

i was having doubts when i put the grinder in it after stripping all the parts that will be rebuild/powdercoated and placed on the 343, it was rockhard on the places you expect it to rust and very rotten on various other locations (rear hatch hinges on roof, under rear popout windows etc, all very tricky places to weld) anyway it needed a full respray + lots of welding/bodywork to look in a o.k. condition again and it just wasn't worth it, i'd rather like putting the same amount of money in the 340Turbo / 343 to keep those in better than mint condition. the chassisparts of the 340 are going to be used by a V3C member to fix other 300's so in the end it went the right way

the very low mileage B14.4E before cleaning, currently busy with taking it completely apart and get the oil channels cleaned, possibly new pistonrings and hone the bushes while i'm at it, all the bearings are in perfect order as is the camshaft surface.
Image

last week i suddenly had no lights when i needed them  the switch fell apart and though i tried getting it back together, the clamps broke so it just bounced back into bits
so made 2 delrin rings on the lathe and there we go; this will never come apart again unless I want it to 8)
Image

found a nice present for the car; here it is on the right side; with the old one to the left:
Image

it was buried under a big pile of dust and had a few deep storage scratches wich i could polish out luckaly :D
Image

yep, the DLS/GLS bobble hood 8)

Another good show last night from the Orange Army.
Glad I stuck a crazy £5 on the Dutch to win the cup now.
Come on!
(threadjack ends)

Oh, car looks great too dude. The only thing that currently sits above a Vario on my LoveList, is a MK1 vario!

:D

well the only thing that bothered me was the fact that the uruguay player didn't get a red card for dangerous play when he kicked De Zeeuw in the face.. and the fact that the orange legion they thought too easy about getting in the final after the 3-1 goal, that may be a reason to lose from Germany if they make it to the final too..

Well, the Dutch weren't too bad at fouling either ;-)

Real pity, I would've loved to see a Dutch / German final.

Threadjack over (from my end, anyway ;-))
