Heater Blower Resistor

Post by WONDERMIKE »

hi guys,

I'm looking for a heater blower resistor for my 360. I guess I need the version for chassis number 154979- onwards(the one with 2 wires as in the picture below). I hope someone can help me out as I couldn't find the right one at the local dealers.

here's a picture of the old one with the protective grill removed

Thats your best bet, i got one from there, but sadly i'm keeping it as my spare backup.

These have been unavailable from Volvo for a while so second hand is the only way to go unfortunately (although a decent auto electrician should be able to source a universal resistor which would do the job). In the meantime you can bypass the resistor which will mean your fan will only work on the fastest speed - not ideal but better than nothing perhaps.

I've used a mk2 golf one successfully. Trick is to go to the scrappy, find which car uses a larger current motor than we do and steal the resistor from that!

Looks a little different to the ones I know, but I usually find it is the little thermal breaker that rusts away and stops conducting. You can short it as a bodge.
