SPOTTED: rare early body panels in Holland

Post by trabitom99 »

It's not often you see Mk1 body panels in 70's canary yellow and bile green for sale:

This door even has chrome door handles:

Depends of course if they're better than the ones already fitted ... The rust on our old 343 Junior was so bad the mirror dropped off all by itself, leaving two huge rust holes.

my personal experience is that as soon as you see rust at the doorskin on a 343/345 door, you'll need a welder and a lot of sheetmetal to get a door wich is completely out of metal instead of rust.

even the doors on my own 343 confirm that, but i've got a set wich are as good as new in the storage for when the whole car gets what it deserves :)

I know what you mean about the rust, but even from that photo I can see that they are better than mine! unless the bottoms have gone like mine. Looks like I'll be welding new bits onto my old ones.

I got exited when I thought there was a pair!

Can I buy your old ones when you change them if I don't sorte mine out? They look miles better than mine!

Thanks Tom, I might ask him what happened to the other door :)

rustwise 99% of them start rusting on the inside; to the bottom and only then to the doorskin

i'm still convinced that with a bit of work you can convert a hard mk3 door into a 343 one, glassframe+mechanism and getting the interior panel to fit are the trickyest bits, but still easyer than finding hard/good 343 doors .

Is that the leather seat, or more...?

If it's just the leather seat...I have it now! It's for you, of course, but Chris thought I would be more likely to get it to you than he would. We may well be doing a trip to Germany in the next few months, so maybe we could meet up...?

cheers

it's indeed the leather seat and the saloon bodykit part. If you're going to German we could do a meet-up. I believe trabitom is not that far from me located... Germany is only 3KM from were I live
PM me if you're coming to this side of the channel :)

Cheers
