In a word no, i'm fairly sure the parts aren't interchangeable, which is a shame because as you say there is more 240 and 400's found in scrappys and the like.
A two minute search of Ebay "Volvo Breaking" brought up this, it seems they are breaking the hole car so maybe they can help you out?
If not good luck with your search

Could you be more specific? Unless it is bent it is unlikely the whole strut if knackered, you are probably best stripping it down to see what actually needs replacing. A 2nd hand strut maybe in a similar state.

ive got 2 second hand struts getting delivered today, what has happened is the top sping pan has rusted and the spring has gone up through it.
the new struts have only covered 44,000 so shouldnt be too bad after being cleaned up and painted

The spring top plates are one of these golden parts, quite often need replaced and are NLA from anyone other than scrap cars. If you do find an alternative it will help many people, but they are quite specific to the shock, bearing and spring combination.
