Hi, a question for our V3M parts boffins here.
1.4 engine mounts? All the same or when/where the differences? I'm just trying to confirm the ID of this part, but don't have my catalogues on my travels...

That's one for the newer types, there is also this one for the mk2 (and older, I don't know for certain)

actually, that's one of the things that i haven't yet figured out.
i've seen the one on the pic of Vermillion on 343's,345's mk2 340's and even mk3 340's!
the one from macplaxton mostly on 340's after 87, but recently i saw them on a '84 340...
anyway, you can fit both of them to on every year with the B14 engine; there isn't a variety that seems to tear quicker than the other or sth

Ta, I've seen Vermillion's pic on DAFs with the closed bellhousing (late 44s, late 55s and 66s) onwards. Just looked at my 343 and it has the Vermillion type as well.
I suppose whilst they are interchangeable, the are probably best kept as matching pairs.
Thanks for the info.

Although it is in my possession at the minute, it's technically not mine.
It might be possible to loan for a reproduction reference.

Follow up that might help.
I pulled the 2 upright brackets off Fake this weekend and put them on the parts washer. I was suprised when I noted (underneath the inches of oily crap) that one was pressed steel, and one was cast ali. On Kar, both are pressed steel. A quick check on VADIS confirms this is correct too, different part numbers are given for the LH upright for B172/D16 vs B14.
Under the rubber mounts themselves, VADIS shows 3210484 for B172, for B14's it shows 3100791 REPL 1 PCS 3210484, 1PCS 971095. 971095 is a flange nut. So... Chris' speculation of the day. When they put the new engine in (the heavier 1.7) the bellhousing sagged a bit, causing out of line props. So, they uprated the bear minimum as they were about to have to ask the Dutch goverment for a bailout anyway and in penny pinching mode, so redid one upright and as there was no point making 2 lots of rubber mounts, just used the stronger B172 ones.
Which also now ties in with what we are seeing with the valvers, notably tail end sag of the even heavier engine and props busting.

Both rear engine mount brackets are ali on 1.7s surely? I certainly have a handed pair of ali ones.

On all 1.7's i have seen john they only run an aluminium mount on the passenger side to clear the clutch fork.

Yeah I'm running a relieved and strengthened NS steel mount but I've got a pair of ali ones, not sure where I got them though LOL.
