Hi all...
I have trying to buy some MG960 from "
http://www.monroeshop.co.uk/"
They said just after placing the order (and paid the money), that they couldn't get the shocks from Monroe anymore..... They would cancel the order and refund my money...
I paid 116,02 GBP for 2 MG960 shocks, but nothing has happend!!!!!
Has anyone heard about them?
Is seems that it's fraud!!!!
Have I been cheated?????
I would like to hear from others that have some info about them!!
Cheers all.
Peter

Interesting, I have been looking for Monreo shocks for a few years now and not found them until now. I had assumed they had stopped trading.
Anyway found the following
Companies house - Could not find a suitable registered company in anything shown on the web site
monroeshop.co.uk - no contact numbers, no address, no registered company name (all requirements if you are a business, but you may get this when you pay)
is an affiliate of bremboshop.co.uk but URL no longer works.
Google shows 'nextdaybrakes.com' with references to brembopshop and monreoshop. Nextday brakes appears to offer brakes but with no ability to purchase them
There is a link to Monroe US on monroeshop.co.uk but certainly no link back to Monroeshop.co.uk
Anyway in summary, I could not find any firm evidence of dodgyness, but does definitely smell fishy, and I just don't like the goggle results.
If you purchased used debit card, get your bank to reverse the transaction ASAP. Not displaying proper name and not replying may be enough.

Various German online shops still have Monroe MG960 in their lists:
http://www.autoteile-guenstig.de/index. ... 037&kbanr=
http://www.fuerst-autoteile.de/index.ph ... ssdaempfer
... but that doesn't necessarily mean they're available. I bought mine a long time ago, they're fitted in my daily 360 and in the Mk1.
When did you place your order with this company? The Christmas / New Year period tends to slow things down a little. Have you tried phoning?
Cheers
Tom

Hi Tom and ride_on.
I have, as suggested by ride_on, spoken to my bank this afternoon, and they have a department which deals with these kinds of problems....
Thanks ride_on for the search on monroeshop.co.uk!!!
It seems that they are cheating people.... (dumb people like me

)
.. and Tom, I have been e-mailing with a company in Germany which is called "gts-suspension". They are selling KYB EXCEL-G shocks at a nice price (56€ a piece). I'm thinking of purchasing a pair.
Have a nice evening
Cheers.
Peter

Hi Peter,
bad news, that you've been cheated

Good luck with it, but it seems it will be allright in the end.
Maybe we have a set of monroes laying around (new). As we now have koni's, you could have them for much less then 50 euro a piece

I know we have some front ones, but not sure on the rear....
Haven't heard from you in a while, but you still have my email, don't you?
Cheers,
Mark

Offcourse I have your e-mail... It's just, that the time is flying away and there are so many things to do...
All in all, I have been cheated by "Monroeshop.co.uk" but has been refunded by my bank...

There are two single Monroe R3411 oil-filled (rather than gas) dampers floating around on the bay, they're for the rear, but cheap!

I've got MG960 gas shocks in the front of my vario, but 30-year old factory ones in the back - not a good combination

That has a very purposeful stance.
Just shows they don't have to be sitting on their arse on 40 profile lacky bands to be cool.
Very nice.

+1
R-Sports weren't lowered at the factory, unlike GLTs. Mk1s are the tallest of them all
Cheers
