I know the Mot has been tightened up a bit recently, but i doubt it would matter aslong as there are no sharp edges left and tyou remove the hangers aswell.
Easiest thing would be just have a word with your local Mot tester and see what they say.

i went through one with a bumper held on by cable ties.

If youve got no bumper, take the brackets off?

Then at least theres no protruberances.

Not saying it will work mind.
