Best appreciated when open.
I probably should have specified ladies legs in there too. [+=] "embarrarrased emoticon"[].com
Air Filters? Blimey, welcome to my world! I think with the K+N kits you'll have to blank off the EGR pipework. Pipercross do direct replacement panel filters, I'm going to ask about one next week for mine.
The last car I had with a K+N kit on it, was my RangeRover classic, I don't think it made one bit of different to the economy or performance, but it sure as hell made it sound better
Air filters have always been an interest of mine, not that i know much about them. Te peugeot forum i was on was allways buzzing with the topic of are they better, do they use much more fuel, which sounds the best.
In my experience:
-they do use more fuel, that was on the little 206 though. i found on the volvo i was putting my foot down a lot more to make it growl, thus using more - who knows was also something about giving the MAF incorrect readings so it pumped in more fuel.
- Best system to get would be an 'enclosed' filter where it sucks the air from the front of the car, puts it through a filter (basically a filter in a little airbox) then goes on to the engine. its better due to the fact you suck in more dense cold air rather than hot air out the engine bay
-They all make a noise, i found pipercross one suited my peugeot best.
- There is very little difference between brands
- Foam ones are easier to clean
- performance panel filters are probably the best all round, less noise though
-possible quicker throttle response
But saying all that, if i wasnt worried it would make me use more petrol, I'd go for a pipercross or raid HP foam cone filter with a cold air feed and possible make a heat shield and get some nice shiney tubing. Just because it looks good and in my experience sounds slightly better than the rest.
As yours has the EGR you could either blank it off or some filters come with a little tube usually used for an crank case oil breather that vents oil fumes into the intake to be burnt. The EGR tubing could be plugged into that.
Hope that hels mate

I had a K&N style filter on my old 360 and took it off... the induction noise was never pleasant enough to warrant the racket, and I certainly couldn't feel any difference in performance. The standard airfilter was used in early factory 240 turbos so I doubt it's restrictive! You might be best getting a drop in replacement filter in the standard airbox if anything, it'll pay for itself in 3 services since it'll only need re-oiling
