Re: Pre MY84 B14 Starter
Now why would you want one of those?
FJ has a B14 job, if they're the same. We shall soon find out.

They're not the same. Anjo says changeover was 84.L14MNP wrote:Now why would you want one of those?FJ has a B14 job, if they're the same. We shall soon find out.
So need a pre 84. With it being an 82.

I see's. Could just be the exciter wire that's duff. Easy fix if so. Was over talking to John and Gaz today and they mentioned that as a possible cause.volvosneverdie wrote:They're not the same. Yeah. it was never gonna be hard to suss was it.theo2468 wrote:Silver one off the bay ? Your having the doors and VND having the car?
Seeing as it's mostly a mk2 with a few mk1 bits hoyed on that they wanted shot of, I'd guess the starter should be the common type, but who knows lol.
If not, it's probably worth stripping the solenoid and cleaning it out as that can fix a sticky starter in my experience. I reckon it shouldn't be too bad though cos the geezer tells me it only sticks on occasion, and he's been running it daily for 16 months, so carb and points(?) etc should be fine.
In a moment of pure coincidence, I am currently watching Only Fools and Horses a Touch of Glass - where they bust the chandelier and tow the 343.
