Rubber floor trays

Post by mac »

At one time you couldn't give them away and now Mac needs a pair of Rear trays.

In as good a condition as I can get (no not for my new friend but for a newbie with an almost showroom Mk2 GLT !!)

PM me people - Mac.

You'll know the changeover better than me Mac, but don't forget there is at least two kinds of floor trays, I think they are up to mk3 and after mk3...

If you want some mk3's I can help if VND already hasn't.

The floor trays are all the same from 1980 on, there are black ones and grey ones.

I pulled some rears from an '88 vario destined for scrap only two weeks ago which you'd be welcome to have but I think postage-wise VNDs your best bet :-)

You're right :-) Blue and grey (I assumed BL was black, but that's "SB" in the acc catalogue ...)

Thank you all,

I'll go with VND as he was first (yr PM'd)

As far as I can recall the tray "split" was "mk1/"mk2" - I've certainly used trays from a '90' in an '83' with no probs.

I have a dealer accessory folder at home. They list three types of rubber mats,

< '79 (non-moulded)
79 (moulded)
80 on (moulded, different pattern to 79)

Maybe there were floor pan differences from '80 on, I dunno ...

Cheers

The rear ones yeah but not the front ones. Pre 1982 (ie. earlier dash) the front floor mats had a straight edge on the centre console side, but on the later Mk2/Mk3 dash the cars had an angled cutout for I think the larger rear heating ducts to the rear of the car.

Continuing the fascinating topic of rubber floor trays ;-)

I took some pics from the relevant pages of the accessory catalogue:

There's no mention of 82 on versions being any different, although it would make sense ...

Cheers

The bottom pic shows what I mean - there's no diagonal on the centre console side of the front mats. So essentially the 79?-82 mats don't really fit the later foot wells (Mk3 style dash) properly

(This topic has turned into a ridiculous level of anorak)

Shall I get started on carpet mats then? Available in both "Luxe" and "Comfort" variants?

Or how about some Senator seat covers... ;-)
