mk1/early mk2 1.4

Post by Speedy88 »

In the autumn I'm going to be looking for a cheap backup car for work as my job depends on me being on time. Other viable options are getting a cheap motorbike and CVT but I just can't justify that if there's a mk1/2 knocking about

I'm not really interested in a mk3 as I've "done" that style.

If you're worried that I'll pile on mileage on a minter don't worry, work is 4 miles away accross the city.

I would consider a 360 if it was very special but the tax costs for a backup car don't seem worth it.

I've got a lot of time to look for one, and I'm not changing money until the autumn. Will consider vario or manual. So, anyone got one locked away somewhere?

Hmm it's an option I guess, Westbury Park to roundabout on the A38 is a killer though, that final hill most of all.

Foggy will be selling his Mk1 345 at some point whenever he renews the MOT - not sure if Chris was still after it though or whether he's still loving his Corsa

I was about to say that too ;-) I've got about 3,5 miles to work - I prefer going by bike if the weather's good. Saves quite a bit of fuel too ...

I do... timing is an issue atm. Almost might work for Speedy to have it for a bit and me take it later, maybe.

I'm going to throw a spanner in the works though... Why another 300?

For less money you can get something newer, less likely to rust and fail later MOT's and that you can park up somewhere without stressing about.

Ah, as much as I like that blue 345, my car will need to be semi-reliable and low maintainance  (By which I mean not having to take the head off every other week)

^^^ that's a bit harsh, foggy's spent ages sorting the engine trouble on that car. Failing that I've got an 82 343 with mk1 dash etc, that I'll be happy to sell on before long.

Terms and conditions apply. This post may go down as well as up. Regulated by the Financial Services Authority. Hard hats to be worn. No reversing without a banksman. No admittance to unauthorized persons. Stop that. Put that down. Leave that alone.

Now hold on a minute, I spoke to you during some sort of assembly/disassembly of this car and you stated "I'm inside having a cuppa while foggy freezes his arse off in the snow" or something along those lines...
