Gearbox noise - need some advise

Good evening,

I'm having a few issues with my 1989 2.0 360.
I've had a look through the other topics and have not found a answer.

Driving home the other night turned a corner and heard a loud noise from the rear end. I've had it up on the ramps and investigated under the rear. The noise seams to be coming from the gearbox.

Looking to find out what other box's would fit as a replacement or availability of another.

Any help and information would be greatly received.

The gearboxes and diff are pretty bomb proof, so 'noises' are unusual. Diff tends to go more than gearboxes under abuse. Usual solution is just to replace from scrap. 340 and 360 use fairly similar items, with varying diff ratio's and drive shaft connections..mostly swappable over depending on whats broken.

edit to say, 4 and 5 speed boxes and diffs and not interchangable unless you change diff+box together.
