Has anyone here converted a car with manual mirrors to electric ones ? If so how much of a job is it ,i.e. is the wiring already in place or do you have to start from scratch , where do the swiches go etc ? . If its not to much of a nightmare it may be my next project on the redline

I didn't have to convert, but Kar came with them, and I've had a bit of a play. The switches go where the electric windows/heated seats go, in the lil square holes.
The mirrors are held on with 3 screws behind the blanking plate (the entire plate pulls of on the electrics ones) and there is a plug behind the door trim. If you can get spares, get the plug from the loom for the switches and mirrors, and just wire the bit inbetween the two plugs! Should be easy!
If you want any pictures, I'll grab em for ya.

foggys done it, and i tried half-heartedly. its not easy, as getting the wiring thru into the door is a b*tch. also the wiring loom for cars with leccy mirrors has the mirror wiring integrated into the window wiring.
