Back! *Now with PEECTURES*

Post by Tom »

I'm not sure if most here will remember me, but I've been a member for some time. My former 300 series has now gone to a better place (my fault entirely, 'first car syndrome' I call it) but I'm now back in the 300 fold with another of these fine automobiles.

I've not got any pics of it yet, but it's a 1986 three door DL and I'm very, very pleased with it. Variomatic is a very strange introduction to automatic transmission, and I'd have preferred a manual, but I'm slowly warming to it. I suppose also that having an auto transmission has probably enabled it to live a fairly easy life. She's currently on 77k.

Pics to follow soon!

Welcome back dude.

Varios certainly do grow on you.
I found it an odd experience at first (even compared to a trad auto) but loved it after a month. Felt quicker than a manual too.

Pics up, when you can man.

Manuals are all very well, but Waft-o-matics are the future! :D

The only thing that may drive you mad is the UK-spec idiot bleeper and red flashing light.

I do :-) I found it a while back when I was researching a "where are they now"-type thread.

Cheers

Do you know, I was looking through my Photobucket album just last week and came across that horror. What has been seen cannot be unseen.

Many thanks for all the welcomes. Where's Duvel these days?

That's had everyone who's been in my car pissing themselves, particularly since the beep in my car is really distorted through age.
Admittedly it does start getting on your nerves, but it really just adds to the character of the thing.

He's only here once a year or so, he's become a bit busy with life ;) A few of us met up with him over xmas time though.

^^^^ I think they were standard from '85 onwards, but they retrofitted a lot of cars too. Mine's an '82, but it has one and the blanking plate is floating around the cubby hole where the dealer left it after doing the job.

BEHOLD.

Sorry about the shite pictures, I've literally just run outside to take them.

I'm slightly worried about this car, in that it all seems too good to be true...it's 25 years old and there is pretty much NOTHING wrong with it. Sure, you've got yer usual light bumps and scrapes, the rubber trim on the offside rear quarter is ever so slightly starting to peel off, and there's a smattering of rust but that's pretty much it. A Volvo specialist had it as his own car before me, hence the overall nick of the car. She drives beautifully, the B14 (once warmed up, obviously) runs beautifully and the interior is absolutely spotless. And all for four 'undred notes. I'm absolutely thrilled with it.
