Adjusting biting point of clutch

Post by Speedy88 »

My clutch is biting very high right now. I've misplaced my book of lies though so could anyone let me know how to adjust the biting point?

Check why it's doing it dude. Check you've not done something silly to the bellhousing at least... it shouldn't just change!

As for how to change, reach under the car, flick the rubber boot off the bellhousing (above the steering rack, a bit lower than you'd expect to find the starter round the other side). 2 10mm spanners, undo the locking nut, then tighten the nuts up a snadger and lock off again.

It's been a gradual change, always been a little high but now it's right at the top. Noticed it especially last weekend. Just need to mildly feather the peddle to dis-engage it!

Cheers dude, opposite side to the starter. I'm on it.

AFAIK you just adjust the nuts at the clutch for a comfortable pedal height. Pre 82 its more a fixed stop when out, 82 on just gets higher as the clutch wears.

Manual says 150mm floor to foot surface.

If its biting near the top you may need a new clutch as the frition coefficient is too low or the pressure plate springs have lost strength.
