Silver or black oil cap? I'd imagine they are common to 200, 700 and 900 4 pots too, they are all the same engine.

Mine was black.
Your probably right, i just dont have the time to get out and hunt for anywhere at the moment, and as mine is sending oil all down the side of the block, i need one pretty sharpish.

Yes, as Chris says common with the other Volvo's. Also, I don't see a problem with naming and shaming - atleast then other people can avoid messers! Sorry to hear that's happened

Im sure there is a reasonable explanation behind it, as i thought the user was quite a long term member of the site, filthyjohn i think is his name.
As said, its a bit annoying, but im hoping theres a decent reason behind it as it seems daft to rip someone off for such a measly £15.
Anyway, thanks for the info, ill have a look-see on Ebay, see what i can pick up

OP, I wouldn't think John would do anything untoward on purpose. He's a genuine guy and I am sure he will be in contact shortly!

Agreed - out of character, sure there'll be a reasonable explanation. I think he's been pretty tied up recently and doesn't frequent as much as he used to, drop him a PM and sure he'll get back to you at some point

Yeah i dont want to kick up a fuss as im sure there is a genuine reason as you say.
The last pm i recieved was on August 11th, and ive sent him one asking whats going on on the 21st and heard nothing yet.
Although now i look, he hasn't been online since the 14th so that'd explain it.
Id best get hunting for another one anyway (:

I'll send him a text. He's definitely not the kind of guy who would swindle you.
I'd be tempted to get a new one - the tabs on the underside go weak and promote oil blow-out. They use exactly the same cap on the modern cars - my 2005 V70 D5 certainly has one. They're about £15, plus £2 or so for the seal.
cheers
James
