Hmm,

I didnt see it posted :!: oh well...

I think the unread forum thingy is dodgy, if you click back in your browser... it marks some as read when you haven't read them....

It wasn't directly linked to, but Mark (the seller) put a link up to all his items under "Rare Volvo parts on offer". I'm only kidding really....I just thought it was kinda funny that you broke 'the rule'...yet it had already been posted legitimately! :)

For what it's worth, the rule is there to help those who might spend a lot of time looking for bargains having their advantage removed by a public posting. Notice how Hugh (chief offender) doesn't post items he's interest in  I'm not sure it applies in the same way it once did, as everyone scours eBay with a fine-tooth comb anyway these days.

My driving computer was bought (not by me!) for the cost of a pint, presumably because no-one found it. It would have sold for ~20x that if it'd been picked up.

cheers

yeah i didnt search as furiously back then

personally i think ebay links are fine, we've all added them, and i like to see rarer kit going to a good home (see my car, in my drive, rather than a mk2 glt. i'd prefer a glt, but no way was the LE going to the scrappies..)

btw james, nessy may not have teh shiney uber-carb on she did when she was parked up.. i've a feeling the carb on my current car would do better there, and that carb on mine.. i still cant get my car running right and i've so far replaced leads, plugs, dist rotor etc.. its still bloomin misfiring, so carb swap (dispite a lack of leaks) is the next best step

It's a difficult one. Yes, it's better that it goes to one of 'us', but then what happens if more than one person desperately wants it? Some fresh friendships can be tested by these things, especially if sniping is involved.

If you want a good example of where it gets awkward, see the boot liner. I know a load of people saw it anyway, but because it was on the forum, we had a chat about it at the meet, and obviously both interested parties backed down to avoid pissing each other off - and someone else got it (another forumite as it happens).

Simon....if you want a guide to adjusting to the correct mileage, let me know :)

No worries about Nessy. I'm planning to get her back on the road this summer...but finding a use for her is the first problem! The girlfriend has again hinted at wanting to learn to drive, so maybe there's a chance there...

cheers

Who had the load liner in the end?

If it's not being used I'm still willing to put up significant cash for it.... Kar's boot is getting abused with sand and salt

Don't quote me on this, but I seem to think it was jim101c who won the auction.
