i replaced my ht leads with a set from halfords..... after 20 min or so of driving the car cot very lumpy and kept stalling out...... thinking the new leads were faulty i bought another set from my local spares shop..... same problem...... i put the origonal old copper set back in and it ran smooth again???..... it would appear that my car dosent like carbon leads?

i dont get it... i thought carbon leads were supposed to be better??

"confused"

Depends what 'better' means.

More fuel economy?
More power?

In either case I'd say it was unlikley, why carbon would be better I do not know, it is less conductive that copper (perhaps less radio interference due to the resistance). My best guess is that carbon is cheaper than copper, I have been replacing copper cable with CCS (copper cladded steel) in scarts and RF cable accessories (on my companies products) for a few years now due raw copper price increases.

If your spark is already marginal you may find the increased resistance is too much. Would it be a 1.7 by any chance? --Oily disty.
