Hi! I guess...

Hi all, I'm new around here.

I recently got a 1984 red Volvo 360 GLT Hatch. Manual, 5 speed, and its a great little first car for me. Only done around 189,000kms when I first got it, and is now up to 191,000 (about :P). My Uncle, who is a crazed Volvo fanatic and has about 5 of the damn cars, told me to come onto an Internet forum and "keep up with it". So here I am, I guess!

My 360's currently out of action because a few weeks ago, I stopped concentrating for a second (whilst waving to someone) I hit this massive bump at a speed that should never have possible through that... I nearly bounced up and hit the roof. Anyway, the fuel pump must have hit the road when I did that, because it's leaking. I'm currently waiting for an aftermarket one from the Sunshine Coast in QLD (I'm a few hours away).

Here's some pictures of the "Big Red" :) These are when I first got it... it hasn't changed much since then.

I do have one question though: something I cannot work out for the life of me is what the purpose of this little yellow button is? Pressing it does absolutely nothing, so it might just be a space filler, but I have looked through the Haynes manual, the owner's manual, asked people and no one seems to know.

Thanks for reading :) I'll be back here to read thru and "keep up with things" :P

EDIT: Oh, I should mention I'm also Aussie, just so you know :)

Welcome! Button could be a delayed reaction ejector seat
Trace the wires and see where they go, my 340 has the front fog light switch there.

Hahaha I was actually thinking of writing that, but i thought nahhh! Yeah I'll give that a go when I can, I'm thinking maybe it's got something to do with the fog lights now I think about it? I dunno :?

you already have front fog switch there :/ mine has the front fog switch and rear wiper/wash switch there too. maybe a horn button for if someone in the past had fitted say an air horn or something?

Brillant car!! I bet your chuffed

That button must be a retro fit, could do anything....NOS, maybe it folds space, or travel through time. ...Just a few sensible guesses.

Yeah but I thought maybe it could do something to the fog light, like back it brighter or something? Stupid idea, but I would say wiper switch too... if mine had a rear wiper :(

I love my little car. It does come with its annoyances that I have yet to fix (like a few of the interior lights not working, and the air conditioning, etc) but overall its a beast :) easiest thing to park too!

Greetings upside down peson.
Welcome to the forum. Love the motor.
As for the button, i see your air con switch is where the fag
lighter usually is . It might have something to do with that, don't know.
As Helldriver says, might be the ejector seat  or it could
be the flamer at the back like the Bat mobile
Cheers Mark.

I see it hasn't got a towbar, but I saw and aftermarket tell-tale light like that and it was for the flashers when a trailer was plugged in. :?
