hi, sorry f its been asked before but prices etc change, weres the best/cheapest (more cheapest )place to buy landy shocks? its landy 90 front shocks i need yea?
also while im here dose anyone have the lin for the guide to filling the front shocks on 300's?

There a straight swap unbolt old shocks, bolt in new ones

Hey man, ebay seems the best place for landy shocks. Also you take out the front strut - spring compressors needed. It's a bit of a pain to get out initially. If you don't want to split the balljoint then you can just get it under the arch with a friend helping. Take off spring and top cup. Undo the large "bolt" lid where the shock disappears inside the strut. You will need some large grips for this. Drain all the blue fluid inside. Refill with thick fluid.

Hope that helps. It's a little bit of a pig of a job but if done right should make your fronts stiffer.

cheers lads, what oil have you used in your fronts mate? i like the idea of still doing it on the car, people say you need to take the driveshafts out but i did it without have you bought landy shocks? if so could i ask what you payed? the cheapest ive seen them was 33 quid

£33 sounds like a good price, I think they were going for 40 last time I checked.

I didn't use them, I got rear adjustables and the same on the front, I got the adjustables instead of filling with oil. I recommend them but if it's out of your budget I can understand. Worth every penny though. Will retain their value if you ever end up hitting a wall and want to sell them again.

i would like to go for adjustables like you say it is alot of money and i dont mind paying it really but im going to be drifting it and a few of the tracks we go to have walls found them so wouldnt want to damage a expensive setup,

just need to find out what oil to use in the front shocks now

I think you use gearbox oil, 80W 90. GSF sell it in big bottles, think it's £14 for 5L.

Dampers will all have 0 stiffnesses. So no, they won't be stiffer.

As I said in that thread, dampers are only supposed to stop the springs bouncing link a bouncy thing. Not provide stiffness. Ever. If when your dampers are off the car you can move them in and out quickly, then they are broken. If you can only do such very slowly, it's likely they arn't.

More spring rate is required on nearly every 300 on this forum that get's driven hard. All the videos show it.

Its one point and one point only. You stiffen up a cars suspension using higher spring rates - Correct way to do it. Putting landrover dampers on stiffens the back up because the valves inside are designed for a much heavier vehicle - Wrong way to do it

You will find on long winding corners the back of the car will sit down on one side and will take a while for that side to level out. The dampers wont last aslong as standard ones because there acting as a spring, as well as a damper (sort of). Its a good cheap alternative, but your better off double leafing and putting a set of adjustables on unless you've got the doe for a 5/6 link Thomas.................

ok ive read that and took it on board and im now going to look into doubleing the leafs,

I'm sure there are many on here who get fed up of me just ranting over why landy dampers arn't good

I'm glad you've decided to do a proper job though, it'll be a much better car for it. It's something I've looked into a few times, getting proper comp spec rear springs for us on a short lead time, but the place that used to do custom leaves I knew about has stopped in the last 5 years.
